Jean Muriel Ebert was born to Clara P. and William J. Feaver in Fremont, Ohio on July 2, 1920. She began piano lessons with Lucy Garvin at the age of 7. At the age of 8, her family moved to Marion, Ohio. Jean became active in musical events in junior and senior high school and continued piano study with Grace Stockman Marcellas serving as accompanist for choruses in both junior and senior high school. As a teenager, Jean won 1st prize in the piano solo division of the Eisteddfod Competition sponsored by Northwestern Ohio Welsh Organizations in Lima, Ohio. At the age of 16, she served as a soloist in the Marion Ohio Lecture Recital Club and accompanied for the Canto Club Men's Chorus. She also accompanied the Marion City-Wide Choral Presentation of the Messiah directed by Gwenlyn Jones and she participated in a string ensemble with T. T. Evans. Jean earned a teaching diploma from Washington University in St. Louis under the direction of her piano teacher, Grace P. Durfee, followed by a year of study of advanced repertoire with Leroy Lambert of Wittenberg University. A year of study with Andrew Setter in Cleveland was followed by a year with Ward Davenny at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She studied advanced piano literature at Kent State's summer music program with Dr. Gerald Davidson. Jean studied piano with Ozan Marsh and Patrician Benkman Marsh at Chautaugua Institution where she was asked to perform on-stage in the Amphitheater, followed by a year of study of advanced repertoire at the Cleveland Music School Settlement with International Piano Competition winner, Theodore Lettvin. Jean served four years as Certification Chairperson of the Northeast Ohio Music Teacher's Association and is an Emeritus Member of the Music Teacher's National Association. She's a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and the Cleveland Piano Teacher's Organization. She has been teaching piano to adults and youth in Chesterland and for many years her students have participated successfully in Auditions of the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Jean served as church organist for the Euclid Immanuel Baptist Church and as part-time organist for the Community Church of Chesterland. She was a founding member of the Geauga Hills Garden Club and served as a guide at the historic Century Village in Burton, Ohio. Jean founded the Western Reserve Concert Association which sponsored soirees, musicales and bandstand concerts in the Chesterland area. Jean was married to the late Robert J. Ebert and is mother of Pell D. Meier of Lyndhurst and Jan C. Ebert of Northfield. She is grandmother of Lauren A. Ebert of Parma. A brother, James B. Feaver of Marion, Ohio, preceded her in death
