Jean Cobb Smith, born June 4, 1933, in Harvest, Alabama, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025. She was the daughter of James Clayburn Cobb and Lena Bell Freeman, and one of 16 children.

Jean's life was rooted in her unwavering Christian faith and her deep love for family and friends. She was the devoted mother of 4 children: Teresa (deceased), Lora (John), Amy (Corky) and John (Mary). She was the beloved grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren,

Jean served faithfully for over 20 years at Walnut Street Baptist Church, first as the friendly voice at the receptionist desk and later as a wedding consultant. She was a trusted presence in the church community and formed lifelong friendships through her work and service.

Yesterday

I knew Jean because she was the mother-in law of my cousin Mary and
the beloved mother of her husband John Smith. I often visited Treyton
Oak Towers where she lived, and I always loved being with her and
talking with her. She was the sweetest, kindest, most beautiful southern
woman from Alabama. I know she was a devout Christian and that light shined right through her. A truly wonderful woman has gone to Glory.
