Jeanette Mayer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 11 to Jan. 13, 2014.
Jeanette Alison Mayer May 16, 1937 - Dec. 20, 2013 Jeanette passed peacefully on December 20th, 2013 surrounded by her loving family, in Walnut Creek, CA. Commonly known as Jan, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard John Mayer 1985, and heir sister, Gillian Briggs, in January, 2013. Jan is survived by her two sons, James Mayer and Christopher Mayer, along with Chris' wife Patricia and their two children, Melanie and Jacob. Jan was born to William and Beatrice Dodge in pre-World War II England, and raised in Leicester on the outskirts of London. After finishing her schooling in England in the late 1950's, Jan moved to the United States to attend nursing school in Galveston, Texas. Upon receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse, Jan came west to San Francisco and soon after met Richard Mayer. The two married in March of 1962, and moved to Fairfax, in Marin County. Jan and her family would develop many strong and lasting friendships over the years while living in Fairfax. Of special note is the longtime relationship with Eleanor and Russell Hill, and their family. After Richard's untimely death in 1985, Jan relocated within her company Quality Care and took-up residence in San Diego, as she had moved-up the corporate ladder to much success in the healthcare business. A celebration of Jan's life will be held on Friday, January 17th, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in San Rafael.
