Jeanette Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 10 to May 11, 2023.
Jeanette "Jan" Eileen Miller, of Coupeville, Washington, passed into eternity on May 6, 2023. She was born March 14, 1942, in Anchorage, Alaska.

Jan loved the Pacific Northwest and often said she wouldn't live anywhere else. She raised 7 children in Loon Lake, Oregon, and spent thirteen years living in a logging camp on Admiralty Island in Alaska. In 1999, she moved to Whidbey Island, WA, where she remained for the rest of her life. Living on Whidbey Island gave her the opportunity to be closer to her siblings, whom she loved dearly. Wherever she was living, you could find her volunteering her time at the local school and church. She always found ways to support and give back to every community she lived in.

Jan had an unwavering faith in God and loved her family with abandon. She will be remembered for her immense compassion and kindness, her generous spirit, and the deep pleasure she found in the simple things. She loved Christmas, music that touched her soul, sunsets, basketball, growing flowers, her chickens, coffee loaded with cream, scary movies, fighter jets, and Disneyland. She will be greatly missed, but her profound legacy of grace and beauty will never be forgotten. She was our fulcrum, and we are all better people for having her in our lives.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Ethelyn and Herald Leise, and sister, Marilyn Coleman. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Miller; her children, James Miller (wife, Diana Miller), Sheryl Rountree (husband, Doug Rountree), Scott Miller (wife, Shannon Miller), Rebecca Miller, Laura Miller, Jessica Derksen (husband, Stan Derksen), and Michael Miller; grandchildren, Abigail Miller, Jeanette Miller, Jeremiah Miller (wife, Halee Miller), Kessandra Miller, Sarah Rountree, Christopher Rountree, Elizabeth Miller, Jerusalem Miller, Julia Derksen and Emma Derksen; great grandchildren, Zephaniah Miller, Charlotte Miller, and a third great grandchild on the way; sister, Lois Simundson; and brothers, Fred Leise, Larry Burton, and Jerry Burton.

A celebration of her life will be held at Hillside Evangelical Free Church: 874 Plantation Dr., Greenbank, WA, on Saturday May 20, at 1:00 p.m. We are asking attendees to wear something in any shade of purple in honor of our mom's favorite color.

Jan was my sister and very best friend who I loved dearly. No matter what was going on in our lives we always knew that would never change. She was such a support when needed and her heart was filled with love and compassion for others. She was so darn fun and so many memories flood my mind of us laughing so hard we had tears running down our face or had to run to the bathroom before we peed our pants. Save a seat for me on the roller coaster I´m sure you´re riding with your arms straight up in the air laughing your head off with Jesus sitting right next to you. Save me a seat. I love you so much Jan and thank you Jesus for what you did on the cross that will allow us to be together again in paradise. Until I see you again I will continue to pray for those things that mattered to you and those who were so important to you that we prayed together for so often. I love you Kissy Face, Scuttle Gut. I know you understand that sweet sister.

I have so many good memories of my Aunt Jan I could not possibly list them all. Jan was kind, compassionate, thoughtful and so much fun. She was the type of person who always made you feel comfortable and special. I am so blessed to have had her in my life and I will cherish her always. Although I miss her big smile already I find comfort knowing she is with Jesus, her parents, her sister and her husband. I know she is the life of the party up in heaven. I love you Aunt Jan.

Momma,
I´m struggling. But I´m so glad you´re not. You came for dad just six days later, and he was ready for you. He´d been asking for you pretty consistently. I´m at peace that you´re together. But this grief isn´t going to fade for some time. I love you! And I miss you!

Jan and Al have been friends of mine for many years. We met in the logging camp in Alaska and kept up our friendship after for all these years. Jan and I shared so many things together. We had long conversations on the phone and we solved the worlds problems many times with much laughter but seriousness too. She was a true friend and confidant and I will miss her greatly. But soon and very soon I believe we will join her to ever live in peace with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ See you soon Jan. Ephesians 3:16-19. Thankyou Jesus for the fellowship of this wonderful friend. Wanda Nuner. God bless her children

Jan was one of the best women I've ever known. I met her in 7th grade when I became fast friends with her beautiful daughter Becky. Jan was like a second Mom. She was always there to love, listen, give advice and of course laugh! She laughed so much with us. I will never forget the impact she left on my life. She also gave me one of the best friends I've ever had. One day we will meet again!

Jan was the pillar of strength for the Miller family! She held all of us together through her advice, knowledge, love of God and unconditional love for each and everyone of us. Her legacy will live on through all of her children, grand kids and the rest of her family. As I write this with tears in my eyes and a great loss in my heart Heaven has received a great Angel!!!

I have many memories with your family. Mostly the love your mother had. I felt as one of her own children any time I was there to play with Laurie. Thank you for loving like Jesus, and planting seeds of faith in the soul of this little Ash Valley Native! May God bless the Milker family, as your legacy lives on in them.
