Jeff Bard

MANSFIELD: Jeff Bard liked snow skiing so much because it combined outdoor fun with spending time with his son. Jeff's life was a combination of hard work, hard play and a great sense of humor. His annual skiing trips to Aspen, Colorado were meticulously planned and a focus on his calendar.

At home in the outdoors, Jeff passed away accidentally Sunday afternoon October 30, 2011. He was 46.

Born December 13, 1964 in Mansfield, he was graduated from Malabar High School in 1983, and remained a lifelong Mansfield resident. He studied law enforcement at NCSC, and began working for the city of Mansfield policing in the Parks Department. He later became an operator at the Mansfield water treatment plant, in all serving the city 19 years.

When he wasn't on his Honda Goldwing, he was boating or planning a deer hunting trip. Described as conservative and an organized planner, Jeff loved to be at family gatherings, laughing and telling stories.

He attended Berean Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son Aaron Bard of Mansfield; Aaron's mother Linda Bard of Mansfield; his mother Jane Bard of Mansfield; a step-daughter Amy Fisher of Mt. Gilead; his maternal grandmother Opal Hawbaker of Lebanon, KY; sisters and brothers-in-law Cindy and Tom Sholtis of Lexington and Linda Lea and Steve Robinette of West Jefferson; niece Kristen Sholtis and nephew Stephen Robinette; his special friend Vanessa Kurtz of Shelby; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Edmund Bard.

The Bard family will receive friends Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. In the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A worship service, giving glory to God for Jeff's life will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m. in Berean Baptist Church, 2145 Middle Bellville Road. Pastors Dave Pound and John Stocks will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bard family, and private condolences to them may be made online at: www.snyderfuneralhomes.com
