Jeff Ross

Jeff was a hoot and a natural born leader. The last time I saw him was at our high school reunion in 2009. We laughed and talked about him taking my QB spot while was injured. Of course, he led our team to victories and me “heal” a lot faster to reclaim my spot. RIP Jeff.

My sincere sympathy to Jeffs family. I played high school sports with Jeff at BHS, home of the Braves! He was a fearless competitor, a charismatic personality, and a loyal friend. RIP bud.

I was saddened to hear about Jeff's passing. I always enjoyed being around Jeff when we were at WSU taking education classes. He always kept the class interesting! I would see him when he was at Mn. Lake and then later on at MCW and he always had a story or a warm greeting. He is going to be missed by a lot of people. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

My heart goes out to the Jeff Ross family as he was a very influential person in my life. I was lucky enough to be on the 1978 Minnesota Lake Girls Basketball Team that Jeff coached and lead to a state tournament for the first time ever for our town. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life because of him. Not only was Jeff a tough coach but a compassionate one. He was someone you always wanted to be around, as he had a unique gift that exuberated fun, hard work and belief in yourself. Im full of gratitude that I had the chance to know such an inspiring person. May your memories give you peace and may God be with you all.

I was so sorry to hear of Jeffs passing. I knew when Unit 30, call came in , smiling, caring, friendly Jeff was going to part of a great ambulance crew.

My deepest condolences go out to the whole family. I feel blessed to have know him for only a brief period of time. He was the example of what it means to enjoy the life you live every day. Darla, so sorry for your loss. I got to know Jeff years ago through Education Minnesota. When I was a negotiator for Fairmont, Jeff gave us tips which were very helpful, such a wonderful man.

It was a sad day when Steph and I heard of Jeffs passing. Jeff and I grew up together, played sports, Class of 69 at Burnsville High. It was Jeff who convinced me to come to school at Winona State College where we both graduated from. He was in our wedding. Jeff and his connections helped me get my first teaching job in Minnesota Lake. Jeff and Darla are very good friends to us, still, after all these years. What a great ride, with many stories, experiences, and much laughter to remember him by! Our hearts go out to Darla, Jaycob, Ryan and their families. Love ya, man.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Ross's family! I was on his Volleyball team back in the 80's. He was always hard but fair to teach us all the importance of teamwork, endurance, and continuing to stay positive. God Bless you.........

I want you to know that as an ER nurse, I loved seeing Jeff bring us someone. He was kind to all, and had a sense of humor, that at those times were needed.
I am glad to see a published account of him in the paper today, cause it is such a nice account of a wonderful man.

It is with sincere sympathy I heard about Jeff's passing. We shared some wonderful times as colleagues in Minnesota Lake, teaching, coaching, planning, and enjoying life as teachers and friends. Jeff often showed us how to make the most out of an OK situation, and turn it into a SPECIAL one. Fond memories that I hope will help bridge the empty times into smiles .

Jeff Ross was a classmate at Burnsville High School, and I will always remember his gregarious nature and love of sports. Reading this Guest Book, I can tell that he truly followed his dreams and shared his talents far and wide. My sincere sympathies to his family, he will be so very missed.

Prayers to your family at this difficult time. Both of my children have fond memories of him as their teacher.

at which you were second to none! You will truly be missed but never forgotten!

Mr. Ross was a kind guy with an easy smile and big laugh. He always came up with a reason that I 'owed' him chocolate chip cookies and would remind me every time he saw me. He taught me to love golf and never give up. He was so proud of his wife, his boys and so much in love with his precious grandkids! Coach Jeff was a great volleyball coach in the 80s when the Sherburn Raiders were finally able to start a volleyball program!
Coach taught me the sport, discipline, and the full meaning of teamwork for all of us gals who worked so hard to make him and our town proud!!

My very first memory of Mr. Ross was in elementary school. I rolled my ankle on the playground or in gym class. I was crying and I didnt want anyone to touch it. My teacher took me down to Mr. Ross; he had a class in session but he took me aside and bandaged my ankle and doctored me up. I dont remember any pain, just that he had me laughing by the time I was done!!

Many years later I was lucky enough to get to know him again as my daughters grpa. When he first found out he was going to be a grandpa- he was so thrilled!! I had people stopping me all over town saying that Jeff had told them he was going to be a grandpa and how excited he was. And he was such a wonderful grandpa. He came to all of Rielles events. Dance recitals, t-ball, soccer, ice skating. Grpa was so proud of her and he was always there supporting her. He absolutely adored my little girl and everyone in town knew it. Those two shared a very special bond that was evident to anyone who came across them.

He used to pick her up from preschool and daycare and they would hang out and watch Gunsmoke (Rielle would usually nap on grpas lap! But she would come home and tell me that her and grpa watched gun smoke today with Matt Dillon as James Arness ). I always knew that if she couldnt be with me there was no safer place in the world for her than with grma and grpa because they absolutely adored her. Rielle and Jeff would tease one another so bad, sometimes they sounded like siblings!! But it was just because they loved each other so much. Oh - and they took lots of trips to Dairy Queen to go have lunch breaks with Daddy too! Rielle was always extra hyped up those days when she came home

Jeff loved being a grpa and we are both so lucky to have had him in our lives. We will never forget him and I promise that Rielle will always know how proud and thrilled Jeff was to be her grpa. We love you and you will be greatly missed. Until we meet again.

I enjoyed the Oak Island trips with Jeff especially the Crown Royals salutes.

As an occasional resident of his infamous "Row 13" I can still hear him singing Holly Holy as I would move my desk up next to his. My kids would recognize him as the very important teacher that made sure I knew to say "may I" rather than "can I". My symathies go out to his family and loved ones. Mr. Ross made an impact on many and is sure to be missed by all.

I taught with Jeff for many years. The students all really liked Mr. Ross and told everyone about it, too. God has gained a good organizer.

Mr. Ross was my favorite teacher in elementary school. As a teacher now myself, when I struggle with a kid, I often think, Well, what did Mr. Ross do when I pulled this stuff in his class? Condolences to the family.

Jeff was a great man and coach. I have many impactful memories, especially at Fox Lake Golf Course on Mens Days. Jeff will be missed immensely. Kev and Jeff are definitely playing golf together up in heaven. All thoughts are with the entire Ross family. Love you all!

My sincere sympathy goes out to Jeff's family. I was on the 1978 Minnesota Lake Girls Basketball team which Jeff coached and lead to the first ever MN State High School GBB Tournament for the Minnesota Lake Lakers. He was a coach of extreme character AND vocal capabilities that could carry throughout the largest gymnasium. He was the 1st coach to introduce the 1-3-1 defense which ultimately lead to a time-out within the first few minutes of every game. We respected his demands of hard physical & mental work and dedication. He not only brought us girls together as a team, he brought the people of our small rural community together as well. We were all united and we were strong. Our family, friends, and community still share this life-time memory......thanks to Coach Jeff Ross. A man not to be forgotten. All our love.

Jeff was my best friend at Burnsville High School. He was the All Star from the class of 1969. He played football, basketball and baseball and was the captain of all 3 sports along with being the Homecoming King. Rest in peace my friend.

I had Jeff as a teacher in 6th grade. I always remember when asking Hey Mr Ross can I go to the bathroom? To which he would reply.... I dont know can ya? I also remember being in lifeguard class and he was our victim one day so we could learn the proper techniques for rescues. Let me tell you he played the part well! He will always be one of the favorite teachers I ever had and one of my favorites overall!! Darla, Jaycob and Ryan....Know I am thinking of you during this difficult time.

I can hear that voice barking out at football practices and games. The 59 defense that he ran, I had never heard of before, but it has stuck in my mind. The golf cart on the practice field was a symbol that football practices were here. That laugh, and the smile, the picture on this page says it all. The garage after Friday night lights. When he would play buck, and if you didn't count tricks, the look he would give you, and maybe some choice words. He was a great negotiator for our school, and did a lot of great things that are still in place today. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Ross family, Jeff was very good to me.

When I think of Jeff, I smile. He was a man of many talents. He lived life to the fullest and made everyone around him feel good. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him. Sympathies to Darla and family.

68 yrs. of life. He lived so much of it focused on his family. Jeffs love for life was remarkable. A warrior that often won. A warrior that adored his wife. So sorry to hear about cousin Jeff. Glad we were able to chat a little at my dads funeral. One thing for certain, that Ross ball club up there just got better.
