Jeffery A. Herrera

January 10, 1963 - December 27, 2024

Jeffery "Jefe" A. Herrera, 61, of Red River, NM, passed away on December 27, 2024.

Born and raised in Denver, CO, Jeff moved to Red River in 2001, where he became a cherished member of the community. Known for his larger-than-life personality, he was a devoted Denver Broncos fan, a champion soccer player, and an avid darts enthusiast. Jeff had a gift for sparking lively sports conversations and was often recognized for his iconic "Trump shirt," which brought both laughter and spirited debates.

A masterful storyteller and prankster, Jeff delighted those around him with his mischievous sense of humor and entertaining tales of riches and collectibles. He especially loved attending Red River's Motorcycle Rally and took great pride in his growing collection of Harley Davidson T-shirts.

Throughout his life, Jeff worked in various roles but found his greatest fulfillment in caring for others and being a loyal friend. He was born on January 10, 1963, to Jack and Odila Herrera. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack, and his brother, Scott.

Jeff is survived by his daughter, Tonya R. Jury; his granddaughter, Murphy R. Jury; his mother, Odila; and his sisters, Jackie, Myra, and Lynn. He also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Jeff's vibrant personality and warm spirit touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Arrangements are being handled by Rivera Family Funeral Home in Taos, NM. In lieu of flowers, contributions to assist with funeral arrangements may be made directly to Rivera Family Funeral Home or by contacting his daughter. Your support during this difficult time is greatly appreciated.

I lived in Red River for about 8 years during which time I was fortunate enough to work several jobs with " JEFFE" as I called him .. He turned out to be one of the best friends I ever had .. He was a good man and I only regret not being able to go see him again after I moved to Texas .. My condolences to his family.. There is alot more I could say but I find myself at a loss for words . We'll miss u Jeff..

I remember when we were younger and Jeff would get a group of us to kneel on our hands and knees so he could jump off his skate board and over us while the board went under us. He never missed and landed on his board. I love you bother!

My dad, Jeff Herrera, was a one-of-a-kind person. Known for his larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and love for his community, he made a lasting impression on everyone who met him. He was well-loved by his family and friends in Red River. He had a way of bringing people together, often with a good story or a laugh.

Although my Naval Service created distance between us, I´m grateful for the impact he had on those around him and the love his friends showed him over the years. As his daughter, I´m doing my best to honor his memory, and I appreciate all the support I´ve received during this time.

Rest in peace, Dad. You will always be remembered by the people who loved you.

Love,
Tonya
