COLUMBIA--Services for Jeffrey Craig Arant, 44, of Columbia, will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, December 22, 2004 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Rev. C. Clark McCrary, III. Burial will follow at Olympia Cemetery, The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. There will be a memorial concert from 10 am -12 noon Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004 at Palmetto Richland Memorial Park-Center for Cancer Treatment and Research.

Mr. Arant died Sunday, December 19, 2004. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Donald A. Arant and Sherrie Spigner Swygert. Mr. Arant was a football player at Chapin High School and graduated in 1978. He was a steel worker, and bred and raised Doberman’s.

Surviving, in addition to his father of Gilbert, and mother and step-father, Frank Swygert of Palm City FL, are his son, Jeffrey Craig Arant, Jr. of Surfside Beach, SC; sister, Melanie Arant Fisher and her husband, Gardner of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Randy Arant of Columbia, Jay Canup and his wife, Julie of Atlanta, GA, maternal grandmother, Myrtle Spigner of Lexington; nieces and nephew, Ashley Fisher, Luke Fisher, Jayne Canup; and fiance, Jacqueline “Jackie” Taylor.

Mr. Arant was predeceased by his step-mother, Evelyn B. Arant.

Mr. Arant was the “funniest man” in town, was dearly loved and will be missed greatly.
