Jeffrey Bleakley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 8, 2016.
Jeffrey Todd Bleakley
July 8, 1968 – November 5, 2016
Dallas, Texas

Jeffrey Todd Bleakley was born July 8, 1968 in Winter Park, Florida to William Bleakley and Mina Henry. Todd graduated from Bishop McGuiness High School in Oklahoma City where he was an active member of Boy Scouts of America, Troop 193, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a camper and later served as a youth counselor at Kanakuk Christian Summer Camp in Branson Missouri. Todd received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Texas Delta Chapter.

After graduation, Todd embarked on a career in sales and marketing within the apparel, entertainment, publishing, non-profit and real estate industries. At times, his life and work called on him to travel extensively both within the United States and abroad, which engaged his natural curiosity and sense of adventure.

Todd was an avid fan of his beloved Oklahoma Sooners, cheering them on with loyal pride. His fierce sense of loyalty extended far beyond the football field to his family and the many friendships he fostered throughout his life. More than anything Todd loved bringing people together. He had few acquaintances as he counted all he knew among his friends.

Todd was passionately devoted to his family, whom he loved deeply. His spirit was enduring, contagious and quickly spread to those around him. He absorbed every drop of life and in return radiated its light onto those he knew and loved. He lived with fortitude, resilience and a grateful heart.

Todd is survived by his wife, Pilar, and his stepchildren, Miles and Zoe Hubbard, of Dallas, TX; his mother, Mina Henry and husband, Richard Daniello; father, Bill Bleakley and wife, Linda Meoli; brother, Chad Bleakley; and niece and nephew, Kendall Bleakley and Alex Bleakley of Oklahoma City.

A memorial service celebrating Todd's life will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2016, at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas, Dallas, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Todd's memory to:

To the Bleakley family, may God continue to give you strength in the days to come. I found a memorial card while working in the field , north Dallas area. I was deeply touched by his photo , that smile defined his character. Thereafter researched thru internet , was not susprised while reading all his good deeds. Pilar you were blessed in this life time with your knight and shining armor.

Todd always had a smile on his face. I enjoyed spending time with him recently at Casady football games while in Dallas and catching up. We could talk for hours and hours. He had a great personality and spirit. He would not miss a chance to be with Chad and watch Alex play football for Casady. When we saw each other a few weeks back after the game, I distinctly remember parting with a smile and the hug he gave my son Chris. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bleakley Family.

I became friends with Todd as a sixth or seventh grader when I joined Troop 183 of the Boy Scouts here in OKC. After assessing the group of older guys for which might be the least scary for me to approach for help with the night's task that we needed to learn in pursuit of our next badge, I asked Todd for help. I was picked him without knowing him even though I knew a couple of the there guys based on their friendship wth my older brother.

Todd was a good choice. He was nice, funny, willing to help and as a bonus, he knew what he was doing. We started a lifelong friendship that night. From them on we never failed to take a moment to catch up with each other every time we were in the same place.

Most recently that was at the Cotton Bowl for OU - TEXAS. We had a really nice visit and he expressed how happy he was with life and how much his wife and kids meant to him. Being Todd he wanted to let me know that he was so happy for me that I have my wife and that he knew I had twin girls. He was always so sincere and he was hopeful and relieved to know that I am as happy as he was. I am really happy I got to see him that day.

I'll miss Todd. Prayers for you all.

I was stunned and so incredibly saddened to hear of Todd's passing. Each and every person I have told of his death has responded with basically the same thing - oh how sad to lose such a good guy. Although out of touch for quite awhile, I treasure the laughs and good times we had. He brought friendship, smiles and laughter to so many.

Godspeed, my friend. And comfort and peace to your family during this tragic time.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Pilar. Todd was so much fun and so eager to help others. I'll never forget when he and I rapped The Message at the TACA Gala . . pretty much no one else in the world would appreciate that the way he did. You have my prayers for your family's peace and comfort.

My heart is broken about Todd. As fate would have it, I unexpectedly ran into him at The Green Elephant in Dallas - just before he was leaving to go to dinner with Pilar and the in-laws. I am so thankful I got one last big Todd hug but sad it was the last. I am also thankful I was able to spend time with him this summer at Scott Gray's wedding in Cancun. There, I was able to tell him how much I appreciated his watchful eye over me. We went to McGuinness and SMU together. When I had a drunk beligerent date freshman year, Todd took me home and made sure I was safe. Ironically, we both ended up in Los Angeles after college, and it was happenstance that we moved back to OKC at the same time. My mom was dying of cancer, and Todd helped me load my stuff on the shared U-haul and transported my furniture home.

As many know, Todd had so much love to share. In Cancun, he told me how happy he was to be married to Pilar and that it was his goal to make her feel loved, happy, and cared for.

Thanks for being a great friend to all Todd. You are a treasure.

I will remember your kindness...and your bow ties, suspenders, cole haans...and that motorcycle.

My prayers to Todd's family. It seems like yesterday when we got locked out of my house in LA, and slept in your car with the top down, only to be awakened by the sprinklers coming on. Peace.

Bleak,

Man, I am so upset of your passing. We just sat and talked Saturday at the SMU Blvd. about things. You were one of the best and most compassionate guys I knew. You will be missed. Thanks for always being a great friend, great listener and real every time. God got an angel with you.
