Jeffrey Cacala Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 2, 2025.
Jeffrey Lynn Cacala, aged 63, passed away on January 25, 2025, in Elmira, NY. Born on May 12, 1961, Jeff was known for his compassionate nature, a contagious smile, and offering endless hugs. Always marching to the beat of his own drum, Jeff humorously dubbed himself as "the crash-test dummy," reflecting his light-hearted approach to life's challenges.

Jeff graduated from Elmira High School and carried his love for music and passion for riding bicycles throughout his life. He was the beloved brother of James Cacala (Sabian) and John Jay Cacala (Cody, Casey, Caden, and children), who will cherish his memory along with numerous cousins, friends and community members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, Virginia Ingalls, and his father, Jack Cacala.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at McInerny Funeral Home in Elmira from 4:00-5:45 PM, followed by a short funeral service at 6:00 PM. A livestream of the service will be on YouTube for those who cannot attend in person. Please subscribe to McInerny Funeral Home.

Jeff's indomitable spirit will be cherished and leave a lasting impression on all who knew him.

THIS MAN HERE WAS A LEGEND. ALWAYS HAD AN INFECTIOUS ENERGY ABOUT HIM THAT WOULD CHANGE THE ENERGY AROUND HIM. HE WORE A SMILE LIKE HE RODE HIS BIKE. SUMMER TIME YOU CAN CATCH HIM OUTSIDE LISTENING TO HIS FAVORITE JAMS, SHIRT OFF TANNING AND DRINKING A COLD ONE TO COOL OFF FROM THE SUN AND ALL THE HOT BABES THAT WALK BY GREETED HIM. JEFFREY CACALA IS NO DOUBT ONE OF ELMIRA LEGENDS AND WILL BE MISS.

Young, wild, and free - that's how we rolled. All my love to Jimmy and Jay in this moment of reflection and gratitude for sharing some of the best years of our lives together.
