Dr. Conklin, was the most comforter Doctor I have ever met. I am grateful that I got to cross path with him. He believed me what I was feeling in my esophagus and throat, when 3 other Doctors told me its all in my head. He took charge and diagnose me correctly and I had my surgery at UCLA in 2019 and now I can swallow, I had a big cyst and other stuff going on. My first visit with me, he sat across from me and took my hand and told me "its not cancer" with the most calm and sincere way, prior to meeting him I had told the fellow Doctor that my father passed at UCLA in 1983 from throat cancer. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. I will always remember Dr. Conklin.

Dr. Conklin helped me deal with Achalasia when I was a patient at Cedars-Sinai, and then at UCLA a well. I easily recall how much he enjoyed watching the multi-colored digital feedback of my mannometry, and I was watching it simultaneously. As years went by, I only saw him a few times but he did discuss the Iowa Writers' Workshop and I detected a love and a sadness about that hallowed place. He was a writer. I am a writer. I wish we could have spoken more about our individual writing lives. I do believe he loved writing, missed the Workshop and I hope that if his soul yearns to be in litearary arts that that is precisely what he will do. Adieu, Dr. Conklin. We will miss you.
