Jeffrey Palmer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 6, 2023.
Jeffrey J. Palmer, 66, of Falls Village, CT, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on July 29, 2023, with his devoted children by his side. Jeffrey grew up in Salisbury and Falls Village and attended Oliver Wolcott Technical High School, where he learned the electrical trade. Besides working as an electrician, Jeffrey worked in the construction and masonry field. Jeffrey had many hobbies, including inventing useful and fun gadgets like the electric curtain opener, electric roller skates (only 40 lbs. each!), solar power box for his mother's house, an electric go-cart for his kid sisters to race around, and many more.

Jeffrey was also quite the entrepreneur, launching "Big Riverboat Tours" from a dock on the Housatonic River. His love of motor boating, camping, and exploring continued right up to this past year. But his number one love was for

family, especially his children, who he raised as a single father for the past 17 years. Jeff ensured his kids had adventures and always wanted to create special memories with them. He loved to travel, living in Honduras, and traveling

to several other Central American countries often with his children. He wanted to show his kids "the sites" and drove all over the United States with them, visiting the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Texas, California, New Mexico,

Kentucky, Florida, and Virginia.

Left to cherish these special memories are his sons Christopher (Nora) Palmer Andrade of Herndon, VA, Jeffrey James and Dale Palmer Andrade of Falls Village, and his daughters Katherine Teresa Palmer Andrade of Honduras, Crystal

Maryann Palmer Andrade of Falls Village, and Estefany Marbella of California; granddaughters Violet Escobar Palmer of Honduras and Elizabeth Andrade of Herndon, VA. Jeffrey is also survived by eleven siblings, including his brother

Christopher Palmer of Falls Village and sisters Jean (Frank) Gallinelli of Southport, CT, Sandra (Greg) Lenshek of MN, Janet (David) Wootton of Saugerties, NY; Mary Palmer (MK Hayes), Mona Lisa Palmer, Catherine Palmer Paton and

Arlene Benninger, all of Falls Village, Therese Palmer (John Duca) of Rockwall, TX; Jennifer (Mark) Ehlers of Jacksonville, FL; and Camille (Tony) Perez of Shelton, CT, along with over 50 nieces and nephews. Jeffrey was pre-deceased by his

infant son he called "Pequeno;" his parents, Mary (Coury) Palmer and Dale Palmer; Sr.; his brother, Dale Palmer, Jr.; sister-in-law, Jane Palmer; brother-in-law, Marc Mittaud; and nephew, Kaelan Paton.

Burial and funeral services were held privately.

In the 1970s, I spent several summers in FV @ Camp Freedman, where my husband worked , leading singing & dancing, & generally assisting the Director for the Senior Citizens' Camp. Jeffrey's Mom, Mary, gave haircuts to campers & drove those so inclined to Church. She was much loved & appreciated. I sometimes watched her arrival on Sundays with several of her children in tow. One summer, I was pregnant with our 1st ( & only) child.I sought Mary's advice, which she generously gave, continuing by mail when we returned to our home in NYC. Mary told us about each of her amazing children. I always remember her saying, " If they want to saw a leg off a table, let them! They need to be creative! " At 1 point, I believe Jeffrey was passing by on skates & Mary told me about his unique inventions!
This was years ago! But I have maintained the subscription to The Lakeville Journal & this is how I read with sadness & nostalgia about Jeffery's passing.
May he rest in peace. My condolences & warmest wishes to all the family.
