It was the 4th to last day of school, and I didn't know if I was allowed to come to school. I showed up and got called down to the office and I decided to go to Mr.Smith's class he let me stay and he said "I'm harboring a fugitive." He made 8th grade the best

He loved telling his classes the story of how his number was 1 number off from Olive Garden as a teen and would often get calls for reservations there so he would act like an employee go the day that they set and watch what happens when they show up and got told they don´t do reservations. Mr.Smith was an amazing English teacher.

When I was depressed he would always comfort me and tell me that it will be okay and to keep on going and that he is the only reason why I am here today

I met Jeff at Borders towards the end of the 20th century. He was so witty and hilarious, and if he liked a joke or snarky comment, it was a high honor.
We kept in touch throughout jobs and moved, and he stopped by when I was in town to visit.
Jeff was a big cheerleader of friends and family´s creative work. He was always very encouraging.
After a few attempts on stalled collaborations, we finally got it together and filmed a monthly podcast that was mainly an excuse to Zoom and talk about our favorite things. I´m sad we won´t have more, but I´m glad we made so many because now I can go back and watch some of our best times together.

Jeffrey and I worked together at Borders. He has always made it a point to stay in contact. He told me all the time how Proud he was of me. Jeffrey was great for a laugh, or a movie review. He will be missed greatly.

I met Smitty at a party with my then girlfriend now wife Cassie about 16 years ago now. I remember standing in the kitchen waiting to get a drink and there was Smitty. We struck up a conversation. And right away we hit it off. He was intelligent, interesting, witty. And also very funny. We have been friends ever since. We always talked about movies or what great show we were watching. But mostly wrestling brought us together. He loved the history and the inside of the business. But nothing was better than our trip to wrestlemania. It was an amazing trip. I´m going to miss our 4 am conversations while I was at work just helping me pass the time. And know every time I watch back to the future I´ll think of him. We alway ended our conversations with by for now. So Smitty by for now my friend.

I was taking my first trip to visit my sister Mel in her dorm at UF and Smitty was in the common area. I don´t remember are meeting per-say but his presence was reminiscent of an 80´s movie oracle that had all of life´s answers somehow. I was 16.

Smitty was more than purely overjoyed when an unbilled tag-team match with The Hardy Boys was announced and took place while we attended Wrestlemania in Orlando a few years back. Also there was Howard Sampson(left of Jeffrey) and to the right is one of Jeffrey´s closest friends Josh Izenberg (my brother-in-law). We were also scheduled to be in the highest of nosebleed seats, but as luck would have it that day, production needed that section for camera equipment and we were all escorted down to seats you couldn´t even buy about 100 feet from ringside. It was a perfect time that I will never forget. I am so happy to have captured this moment - one of my favorite photos of all time. You will be missed Smitty. You were one of the most unique, fun, funny, brilliant, beloved character of a man I have ever met. Heartfelt thoughts to Jeffrey´s family, friends, fans, followers, colleagues, and all of his students who loved him so much.

I had the honor of getting to work with Mr. Smith on three productions for SFA: Big Fish, Peter Pan, and Pippin. SFA is something I look forward to every year, and one of the reasons is because of the wonderful atmosphere. Mr. Smith helped create that atmosphere with his endless positivity and passion for working with us and on the show. He would go out of his way to make sure each and every one of the students participating felt seen and appreciated. He was so so supportive of all of us, coming to see shows that we were in at our schools and keeping in touch with us. I have a memory of staying after and waiting with him during Pippin before we left to see the other school perform their show this summer, and he waited there with me and talked with me and my friends, listening to our drama and offering his support and advice. That memory, along with many others and the confidence he instilled in all of the students that worked with him, is something that I will deeply cherish.

Jeff Smith, a dear friend whose boisterous stories and infectious laughter lit up our days. We worked at Borders in Plantation for a few years. He was always full of boisterous stories and put a smile on my face. The 1st week we worked together he kept telling me he could pick me, like physically pick me up! I was 225+ and probably at least 6 inches taller. He ran up to me, wrapped his arms around me lifted off the ground. The moment was as bizarre and hilarious as the retelling. I´ll miss our rants and discussions about music and movies. You were a good man Jeff. Thank you for the endless laughter and cherished memories, Jeff. You were, and always will be, an irreplaceable presence. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Smith during Peter Pan, and then working with him again during Pippin. He greeted me every morning with a smile and some kind of witty comment or joke. Mr. Smith was genuinely one of the most selfless people I've ever met. He never missed an opportunity to lift someone up, whether it was with a compliment, a joke, etc. I used to enjoy sneaking out of rehearsals to chat with him all the time. He instilled so much confidence in me as well as my friends. Mr. Smith had a very big impact on my life as well of the lives of many others and he will not be forgotten. Thank you for being you Mr Smith

Mr Smith was one of the most supportive people i´ve ever met. I only got to work with him twice, in Big Fish and in Pippin but I have nothing but good things to say about him. Whenever I would come into rehearsal he would make sure to tell me I was doing a great job. He saved a little plastic crown from a cake for me because he said that I had earned it, and he will never know how much that meant to me. SFA won´t be the same without him, sending all my love to his family and friends.

Every wednesday, we had drama club. Wednesday was the one day of the week I looked foward to. Mr.Smith was the funniest teacher I knew. He helped me to break out of my shell and be myself. He made school worth coming to. He always made everything fun. Whenever I would go into his classroom in the morning, he would talk to me, act, and overall just have fun. He has helped so many people, he will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

I've known Smitty since we were in 6th grade through today. None of us will be the same without him. I have so many Smitty-esque sarcastic/ironic and literal things to say about him when I can begin to fathom this loss. No one will come close to you. Love you buddy

When I first started out in Drama club, I was a little shy at first and slightly intimated by Mr. Smith, but I soon became more active in the club. Mr. Smith had praised me for being great at improv and comedy. This had encouraged me to be my best when we were doing the spring play. I gave Mr. Smith the script for this year's play. The play would have been the Read-headed League; a Sherlock Holmes story. One of the first things Mr. Smith said at the being of Drama club was that this place (Drama club) was the place to try something new and no one would judge you. This year was the year Mr. Smith wanted to get Drama club t-shirts made. He said he wanted the shirts to say "Kennedy Drama Club: It took us 3 years to make this shirt" . He has inspired me to go above and beyond and I will when I join the theater club in high school. I thank him and all the students he has inspired wil miss him.

Jeffery Smith was my 8th grade ELA teacher. He was the best teacher I´ve ever had. I don´t think school could ever be as fun as it was with him. He was the reason I was excited to go to class.

Mr. Smith was probably one of my favorite teachers this year because of how chill and just amazing as a teacher he was. I was in drama club last year and it was probably some of the best experiences of my life, I made so many friends for life and have such fun memories with everyone who was there. He was taken to soon and I wish I could´ve had the whole experience of him as a teacher, he would´ve been amazing.

I learned so much from Mr. Smith he truly taught his students more than just as a teacher, Mr Smith personally helped me be comfortable being myself and encouraged all of his students to be themselves. The mark that he left on all of his students is really incredible and I will never forget him as a teacher and a mentor.

Jeff Smith never said no to anything extra that was asked of him ... he volunteered to be a part of everything. He was talented in so many areas and helped others when they needed help. He was previously the Teacher of the Year despite just teaching a few years - it was well deserved. He cared about each and every student, and they adored him. He was fun to be around. He made such a difference in this world. I will miss knowing he is at KMS ... making people laugh and hustling constantly. He was quick witted, always having the snarky humorous thing to say (usually at his own expense) ... and he even wore pink to my baby shower (always a stylish dresser). Thank you for all you did for this world, Mr. Smith.
