15 years later, I still miss my son Jeffrey. I think about Jeff and talk to him every day. I do believe he's around me in so many way.
Jeff was the best son a mother could have asked for, he was truly a gift from God.

Eleven years have gone by in just a beat of my heart. I would love you all to know how many times Jeff has touched me over the years. Jeff has sent me so many dragonflies, inside my home & outside that have landed on me, sat on my hand for more time that I would have ever thought they would, let me touch them. Landed on books that I was reading. Flow back & forth the whole time I mowed my back lawn one night. Yes, I know how do I know they were sent from Jeff.... I just do. I miss him everyday & love all the great memories I have of Jeff. The pain never goes away, it just pulls your heart, then you just make peace with your life & the blessings you have been given.

Hello, Carolyn. My mother, Susan Crites, and I were just talking about Jeff last week. We can't believe it's been so long. Every time we share stories about Jeff, they're always funny stories that remind us how much he made us laugh. I've been meaning to return your email. I will send one in the next few days. You were a wonderful Son Jeff, your still the beat of my heart, the sunshine in my day when I think about you. Many great memories. I will miss you forever, the tears still fill my eyes, I don't know how I got from day one to ten years. Love you, Mom

Time moves on so slowly and the only thing I know for sure is that I miss Jeff more each day and that the pain and tears are still there with me. I think the hardest thing now after 18 months is that I still need to talk about my son and that so many others don't. They mean well, but don't realize that that is the only way I have now of keeping Jeff alive is the memories. Not only mine but theirs. I love you and miss you everyday Jeff. Love Mom

To lose a friend like Jeff is to understand what friendship really means. I miss him dearly. I pray for his mom and dad to have peace in their lives, and for his friends to never forget how lucky we were to have met and shared in Jeffs life.

June 1st. will be a year since I last spoke to my wonderful son Jeff. If I could only speak to him today I would tell Jeff how proud I was to be his mother and that I miss our conversation and time together, the way he would called me Mom and made me laugh. I look for Jeff in each young man I see, I pray to find peace in my days and to sleep through the nights and for God to watch over all of us who miss Jeff so very much. May God fill the hole in my heart with the memories of Jeff's love of life, family and friends. I still feel you with me and I am thankful for that.

I have thought alot about Mr. Thompson this past year. It is difficult to realize that it was almost a year ago that he passed away. He was one of my best friends, and one of my heroes. When I first met Mr. T, He was visiting from San Diego. I realized then that he was an amazing person. He was friendly, social and supportive. He was also one of the best martial artists I have ever known. When I grew up and started spending time with him, I discovered how passionate he was about so many things.
Mr. T. was a great person, and he touched many lives with his physical, mental and personal abilities. I'm glad that this space is still available to send thoughts and wishes.

I first met Mr. Tompson in the dungon at Carmody Recreation Center,I think I was a yellow belt and we sparred a couple of min. I was amazed that he hit me so fast and with so mutch control,it seemed that he hit me about 50 times in 3 or 4 seconds he said usually his opponents had had enough by now but I kept sparring for about 20 more seconds. Mr Tompson was very good at TKD and other aspects of life. I will miss watching him in competition.

Jeff was my favorite cousin and I still just can't believe that he's gone. I will never forget all the fun times we had growing up together - trips to Elitch's, Celebrity and Casa Bonita, sleeping on 'voll-avays' and eating at Denny's in California, his hilarious Ed Grimley and Church Lady impressions, his love for cheesy Godzilla movies, Pac Man and fasciniation with sprinkler systems when he was very young - I could go on and on. What I will remember most was that he was always so much fun to be with and could always find the humor in any situation. I will miss him for the rest of my life.

Jeff and I were roughly the same age and I was always so impressed by his skill, his dedication and his attitude. I remember one instance in which he gave me a compliment, and it was one of those moments in life that you never forget, because it meant that much to me, coming from him. Even with his incredible talents, he never failed to be modest and to have a wonderful sense of humor. When he led class, he always had some new way of explaining his insight, and really cared about people understanding what he meant, and improving. I really loved Jeff and feel blessed that I had the opportunity to know him and count him as a friend. He will be deeply missed.

Though it has been many years since I'd seen Mr. Jeff Thompson, he will be greatly missed by me and many others. I have great memories of him in the TKD world and great respect for him even now. His combination of intensity and levity created a tremendous excitement for everyone at the Foothills TKD club, such as when he enthusiastically returned from a trip to the TKD World Championships in Malaysia sporting a new leather Hard Rock Cafe jacket he'd acquired there. Great great memories. Such energy will be missed, surely, by both the TKD community and his family.

June 17, 2009

I met Jeff in Aug. 1989 when I started TKD. He was a 1st Dan and someone who set a fine example. He set the bar . As I increased in rank I had the the chance to compete against Jeff. Which was always a pleasure and a challange.
His death at such a young age was a shock. We will greatly miss him. He was one of a kind.

June 15, 2009

Mr. T brought such great memories and fun times to all he touched and worked with. His skills, ability, humor, and performances over the years will never be forgotten. It's very painful for those of us left behind especially Jeff's mother and father, but we are eternally grateful for the fun times together starting with world camps in Colo. and the friendships he created from all over the TKD world, the national tourneys and fun road trips to Missouri, the world championships in Malaysia, Russia, and Italy. Not forgetting the time Jeff interpreted Russian for us on the train from Moscow to St. Petersburg to let us know if we didn't pay the extra $3 demanded for sheets, they were going to stop and throw us off the train!!!! As Jeff's long time instrutor and friend, I still can't believe he is gone, but please know that he will never be forgotten. God Bless your family.

Jeff always made any situation -- even the most stressful -- fun. I'll never forget the time we had one night to come up with a ho sin sul (a realistic looking choreographed fight) routine to be performed the next morning at opening ceremonies at the TKD World Championships in Malaysia in 1999. Jeff, myself, Tim Marshall and Doug Arnold were laughing the whole night, as we came up with crazy stunts that were more like a video game than reality. Jeff even made me believe I could do just about anything. What an inspiration. After our performance we got a thrilling standing ovation. Thank you Jeff for your indomitable spirit and absolute joy of life! Julie Marshall

I didn't know Mr. Thompson well, but I have vivid memories of watching him perform in tournaments and testings when I was a beginning TaeKwon-Do student, and being amazed by his abilities. His technique set a standard that made me want to work extremely hard to improve my own skills, while at the same time humbling me in the realization that my abilities were so limited compared to his. He was truly an inspiration. My deepest sympathies to his family.

I feel sadden that we lost a outstanding black belt and a young man that had so much talent in Tae Kwon Do. He was so giving of himself and it was enjoyable to be around him. He did so much to help the boys at Shiloh house in the early years, and the boys learn so much from him. He will surly be miss. Steven Ramirez [Shiloh House]

I grew up with Ben Lyas and since we've grown up, he has proven to be all the man he started out to be...If this man is being given this much honor by one person, I know he must have been someone truly special...I will lift your family as well as Ben upin prayer...and remember that God doesn't make mistakes. May he give you all strength to go through this process of mourning your loved ones loss.

Jeff was one of a kind. Intelligent, caring, thoughtful! He had an incredible sense of humor and a contagious deep hearty laugh. He was brilliant at the art of Tae Kwon Do. I've always talked about Jeff and his amazing ability to jump into the air, and it seemed as if he would freeze, in some Matrix like quality, and pose his kick before landing perfectly. I know you all know what I'm talking about. My favorite memory of Jeff, and I laugh and cry now just thinking about it, is his patience with me, this silly little girl who followed him around starry eyed!!! He was a good friend! He will be deeply missed!!

This news was a terrible shock, and Jeff being gone is a terrible loss. I had lost contact with him, somehow believing he had moved out of state. A hard reminder that we should make the most of our time with our friends and loved ones while we can.

Oddly, I had just recently run across this little souvenir photo, an inclusion in a keychain, showing Jeff, me and my son Sterling. I enlarged it a little and thought, again, I should ask someone who might know how to get in touch with Jeff so I could send him a copy. Guess this will have to do.

Jeff was as fine a human being as he was a TKD practitioner and teacher. I will try hard to follow this final thing he's taught me, about keeping in closer touch with the people I care for.

My condolences to Mr. Jeff Thompson's family. I count myself lucky to have known and trained with Jeff in the 90's. I was always amazed at his talent and depth of knowledge, not only in TKD, but in any other subject you cared to discuss with him. He was an inspiration to all, and the world is a much better place for having known him. He will be missed, yet he lives on. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

A great young man who I knew via TaeKwon Do. He was a champion of the highest caliber. He could do it all. One of the best competitors in the Organization. He could punch, kick and perform patterns at the highest level. And to top it off, he was a very humble human being. It is a great honor to have known Mr. Jeff Thompson
