Jeffrey "Scott" Thornton

Jeffrey "Scott" Thornton, 57, passed away at his home in Leland, NC on February 14, 2025.

Scott was born to Roger Dale and Mary Elizabeth (Holshouser) Thornton on September 27, 1967, in Salisbury, NC. He moved with his family to Carolina Beach during his late teenage years.

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his nephew, Christian Thornton.

Scott was married to the love of his life Shannon for 34 years. They met in Wilmington, NC and were married on May 10, 1991.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Amanda Thornton of Asheville NC and his son, Robert (Christy) Bradley of Leland, NC.

Scott had the great privilege of being called "Pawpaw" by his five grandsons: Henry, Travis, Corey, Brendan, and Robert "RJ" as well as his three great grandchildren: Graysen, Bellamy, and Harlo.

Scott was the oldest of three siblings. Many memories will live on through his brother, Jamie (Kelli) Thornton of Hampstead NC, children: Lucas, Liam, and Layla; and his sister, Alena Faulkenberry of Leland, NC and son Matthew.

Scott will also be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Scott spent the majority of his life working as a mechanic. He also tried his hand at installing fences alongside Jamie and Robert. Over the last few years, he helped Shannon with her cleaning business.

When Scott was not spending time with his family, you could find him at the racetrack with friends or under the hood of a hotrod.

Scott was known for his giving nature. He made sure that would continue even after he passed in the form of organ donation.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers as they cope with such a great and unexpected loss.

The service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2:30 pm located at 360 Turkey Branch Rd. Mars Hill NC 28754.
