Jeffrey Van Hook Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 6, 2025.
On June 2, 2025, Jeffrey "Jeff" Van Hook, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in

Woodbridge. Born on March 10, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the predeceased by his parents, Marilyn Van Hook and Russell Van Hook. He was one of five children and is survived by his four younger siblings, Gerald, Chris, Eric, and Jill. He married his high school sweetheart, Marty, and is survived by her and their three boys, Nathan, Travis, and Zachary, as well his four grandchildren, Leighton, Fiona, Amos, and Theo.

Jeff was raised in Woodbridge, Virginia and raised his family just down the street from his childhood home. He was constantly checking in on his mother and spending time with her in the kitchen or living room. He first worked at Chesapeake Bay Seafood House, and rose through the ranks to become general manager and then worked for a number of years as a manager at Chili's.

Jeff loved to go out on his boat and shared many memories with his family and friends fishing, cruising the river, or driving the boat while his boys' knee boarded. Even when he worked long hours and weekends, he was always there for his boys as they played sports. Constantly encouraging and supporting each of his boys in whatever pursuit they chose and providing an example of a strong work ethic, while also taking time to enjoy the little things in life.

As his boys got older and he and Marty had more time on his hands, you would often find them cruising on his motorcycle. They spent many weekends riding through the country roads along with his sister-in-law, Margaret, and his late brother-in-law, Frankie. Jeff was always planning his next trip or vacation where he would spend time with his family and friends. He was fortunate enough to travel through the United States and abroad, including a family RV trip up

to Vermont, summer trips out to Sunriver and Portland, Oregon, baseball trips to Florida and Iowa, many beach trips to the Outer Banks, cruises to the Caribbean, and a once in a lifetime adventure to Australia with his family and his father.

Jeff is certainly in heaven now fishing in paradise or sharing a laugh with his mom or looking at classic cars with his dad. He will be truly missed, but we cherish and appreciate all of the great times that he spent with us.

A celebration of life will be held on June 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St James Episcopal

Church, at 5614 Old Mill Rd., Alexandria, where he will be buried alongside his

mother.

So sorry for your loss. I just heard the sad news, sending prayers and thinking of your family. Jeff was the kitchen manager who trained me back at Fairfax in 1978. May he rest in peace and may God watch over you during these difficult times.
