Jennie Loper Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 9, 2013.
JENNIE LEE SHIPMAN MILLER

Jennie Lee Shipman Loper passed away on April 7, 2013 in Austin, Texas. She was born to Floyd Emmett Shipman and Neva Maude Cowart Shipman. She was born on November 8, 1925 in Slaton, Texas, as the eighth of nine siblings.

Jennie married Jimmie Barto Miller in 1944. They lived in Lubbock, Texas, where their three children were born: Gloria Jean Miller Goode, Jimmie Dwayne Miller, and Gayland Kee Miller. Jimmie passed away in 1956.

She married Riley 'RED' George Loper in 1957. They were married until his passing in 1991.

Jennie is survived by her daughter: Gloria and husband Randy Lee Goode, their sons, Lance Kevin Goode, Rowday Lee Goode and wife Amy E. Griffin and their children, Kyle Dayton Goode, Carter Gregory Goode.

She is predeceased by her son: Jimmie Dwayne Miller, who left behind his wife, Bonnie Clendennen Miller and their daughter, Traci Michelle Miller-Bird, and Traci's children, Daniel James Miller, Shelby Nicole Bird, and Grace Michelle Bird.

Jennie was recently predeceased by her son: Gayland Kee Miller, but survived by his family: wife, Elizabeth 'Kay' Ketchum, and their daughter, Meagan Gay Miller.

Jennie is survived by five of her siblings: Beryl Jean Shipman O'Briant, Glen Dale Shipman, Billy Floyd Shipman, Donna Lou Shipman Blalock, and Marion Kee Shipman; and predeceased by three siblings: Carl Edwin Shipman, Evelyn Berniece Shipman Wood, and Sammy Hugh Shipman.

Jennie Lee was a 'Christ Follower', loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She lived and died by her faith. Everybody who knew her could see God's light through her heart and love towards so many. By allowing God to work through her, she empowered people, fed the poor, comforted the distressed, and had the gift of mercy.

Jennie Lee, first and foremost, was a Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, loving her family. After losing her first husband, Jimmy, she became a strong woman facing many obstacles. She always persevered, never losing sight of her family. While living in Lubbock, Texas, she was a hair dresser working out of her house. After moving to the Austin, Texas area in 1971, she became a real estate mogul, far surpassing her goals. Working with her husband, Red Loper, they also owned a successful construction and real estate investment company.

More than a successful career, Jennie Lee had a passion for loving acceptance of all people who entered her life, many of which were young children. She became an endearing part of people's lives. Jennie Lee was known for her accepting, loving heart, providing a safe haven for emotional and spiritual growth. She will be missed by the many whom have had the privilege to be touched by her during her lifetime. As a result, her merciful and giving spirit surrounded her with so many loving family and adopted family.

One thing for certain; her brothers and sisters were her beacon in the darkness. All of them are there for each other during 'life adventures' and the best example of A FAMILY IS THE LINK TO OUR PAST, AND A BRIDGE TO OUR FUTURE.

Her absence in this world will be a gap which all will fill with her loving spirit.

Hebrews 11:1 Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral services will be in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home at 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 11, with the burial to follow.

While it has been many years since I last visited with Aunt Jennie Lee, I'll always remember how much fun we had when I went to her house as a little girl. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.

My sister, Jennie was loved by our family. She was always kind, gentle and had a love for everyone she met. There were four girls and four boys in our family. If ever there was a disagreement, Jennie always saw the good in everyone and never let it come between her and the love she held for all of us. Praise God, he has caused all things to be worked for His good. All of the siblings love her and we love each other. We will see you later on the other side, my sister. Donna

My mother in law, Jennie Lee Loper, was the most loving and giving of all. She was my second mom for the last 30+ years. I am blessed to have had her in my life. I learned so much from her, and will be blessed from this day forward. I love her so much. Bonnie

I have been blessed to have this lady as my mother-in-law. She taught me many things. We always enjoyed being with her as she got along with anyone and everyone of our friends and family regardless of age. Actually she treated everyone with exceptional kindness and her attitude was the more the merrier. I will carry her in my heart forever until we can meet again in the kingdom of heaven. I so loved you!
