Jennifer Moskowitz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 29, 2024.
Jennifer ("Jenny") Michelle Moskowitz passed away on October 18, 2024, in her home in Riverdale, NY, after many years with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. She was a devoted and loving mother, wife, sister, and daughter. Jenny grew up in Inwood, Hastings on Hudson, and Riverdale, where she developed a passion for music, dancing, and performing from a young age. Her compassion and caring ways were evident early on, earning her the nickname "Nurse Jenny."

Determined to make a difference in the lives of those around her, Jenny pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Buffalo. After graduating in 1987, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she worked at Boston Children's Hospital, first on the medical surgical floor, and then in the NICU. Throughout her career, Jenny devoted herself to helping children suffering from chronic illness. To further her clinical education, after relocating to New York, Jenny received her master's in a nurse practitioner program at New York University. She continued her unwavering desire to help others.

Jenny met Scott Moskowitz in 1990, and they married in 1992. From that point on, family was the cornerstone of Jenny's life. They had three beautiful children, and Jenny became passionately involved in their education and extracurriculars. As they grew up, she wore many hats. One year she taught dance classes, while the next, she was their basketball coach. An avid gardener, Jenny arranged flowers and grew vegetables that her whole family enjoyed. She shared her love of show tunes, romantic comedies, and coffee-chip ice cream with everyone she could.

Jenny's generous heart and fun-loving spirit will be deeply missed by many. Jenny is buried alongside her late husband, who passed away in 2020. She is survived by her children, Rachel, Nina, and Luke; her sisters, Emily Moskowitz, Rosie and Ariel Marcus, Amanda and Sally Katz, her mother Jackie Marcus and husband Elliott, and her father Stuart Katz and wife Jane Martin. In her memory, donations to the New York Botanical Garden or the Alzheimer's Association are welcome.
