Jennifer Myrick Obituary

Published by The Advertiser on Sep. 28, 2018.
Jennifer "Jen" Jane (McConnon) Myrick

Lafayette, LA - Jennifer "Jen" Jane (McConnon) Myrick of Lafayette, LA passed away on Sept. 21, 2018. She was born in Atlanta, GA on Nov. 23, 1984 to Shirley Culpepper McConnon and the late Edward S. McConnon and was raised in Acworth, GA. Jennifer was a member of Acworth First Baptist Church, where she was baptized after giving her heart to Jesus as a child. Jennifer is survived by her mom, brothers Eddie McConnon, Jr., John McConnon, and Kerry McConnon, her Uncle Jim McConnon, her Aunt Jane Culpepper, her uncles John Culpepper (Becky), James Culpepper, and Chuck Culpepper (Karla), her many cousins, her goddaughters Sydney Turek and Rivers Jane LaBauve, nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat Mai Tai. Grandmothers Myra McConnon and Sara Jane Culpepper, and grandfathers Myles McConnon and Carroll W. "Pep" Culpepper preceded Jennifer in death. Jennifer was homeschooled during most of her younger life and graduated in 2003 from Woodland High School in Cartersville, GA. While serving in the Army Reserves as an Automated Logistics Specialist, she graduated from University of Maryland with a major in Humanities, a minor in Communications, and received a Certificate in Spanish. Jennifer was a very articulate young lady and a gifted writer. Her mouth tried to keep up with her brain, speaking so quickly that many had difficulty understanding her!

A worldwide traveler in her twenties, Jennifer made friends and impacted lives wherever she went. It was hard not to notice her infectious smile and bubbly personality in a room full of people. She attended concerts and festivals all over the place, collecting tee-shirts, coffee mugs, art work, statues, refrigerator magnets, post cards, and other memorabilia. Jennifer went on mission trips and cruises, rode camels and motorcycles, bungy dived, learned to scuba dive and hula hoop, and made cross stitch projects for her friends. She was an avid reader, loved to argue and debate, and was a lifelong learner. One of Jennifer's assets was that she could make new acquaintances her friends so quickly and make them feel so very loved from the beginning. She was quick to compliment people, even strangers, and even quicker to help someone in need. She now rests peacefully in the arms of Jesus with many relatives and friends who have gone before her.

I've known Jennifer since birth. She just glowed, from the very beginning. Her spirit was vast and flew high. No one who knew her would have not felt the gift in that. All blessings to you Shirley. I will keep you in my mind and heart.
