Jerry was born in Denison, Iowa, and raised in the Charter area. He was baptized in Christ at St. John Lutheran in Charter Oak on May 21, 1950, and later confirmed there March 27, 1964. He received his education at St. John's Lutheran School and attended the Charter Oak-Ute High School. He worked for Baak Implement as a tractor mechanic until they went out of business. He then worked for Clausen & Clausen LTD, as a farmhand for fifteen years, and most recently worked at Farmland Foods in Carroll, Iowa, as a shag driver for four years.
Jerry married Blinda Jean Bramley on January 18,1974, at the RLDS Church in Moorhead, Iowa. The couple was blessed with the birth of two children. Blinda passed away in 1993. Jerry married Jacqueline Rose Boland on August 22, 2000.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends. He worked hard, was proud of his family, and had strong morals. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and traveling. He liked to listen to old country music and watch westerns. He loved laughter and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, John and LuVerne; his wife Blinda; one sister-in-law, Barb; and one stepson, David. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline; one daughter, Shelly and her husband, Mark; one son, Jonathan; one stepdaughter, Julia and her husband, Hoss; two stepsons: Brian and his wife, Sue; and Allan; three grandchildren, Carly, Parker, and Jackson; twelve step-grandchildren: Sarah, Ian, David, Jr., Alicia, Brian, Jr., Jessica, Jacob, Scott, Nathan, Chad, Derek and Jerrod; his father and mother-in-law: Ray and Opal; three brothers: Bill and his wife, Corlie; Vernon; and Herman and his wife, Nancy; one sister, Julia and her husband, Maurice; many other special people including nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law; other relatives and lots of friends.
Funeral services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. Rev. Richard Merrill officiated the service and graveside rites held at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Charter Oak. Organist Art Beeck provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, "On Eagles' Wings," and "I'm But A Stranger Here." Rachel Kline sang "Amazing Grace." Honorary pallbearers were Dennis and Marlene Bergstadt, Don and Nadine Friedrichs, Beverly and Jerald Knudsen, Terry & Sandy Bauman, Linda Petersen, and Shirley Hopp. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Kohnekamp, Jr., Jason Kohnekamp, Bill Henkelman, Brian Knudsen, Kevin Clausen, Jerry Meseck, Gary Schau, and Ron Schau. Tuesday services included a prayer service at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak at 5:30 p.m. led by Pastor Richard Merrill. The family invited everyone to return to the church for fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of arrangements.
