Jeremy Thayn Thatcher

March 13, 1992 - September 29, 2024

Beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Jeremy Thayn Thatcher, passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2024, in South Ogden, Utah. At just 32 years old, Jeremy tragically lost his courageous battle with mental health struggles and addiction, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Jeremy was born on March 13, 1992, in Jackson, Wyoming, to Lynn Thatcher and Terri Henson. The only boy among five children, Jeremy shared a deep bond with his sisters, embracing his role as their protector- a devotion that extended to every relationship in his life.

In 2012, Jeremy proudly joined the Marine Corps, beginning a career as a helicopter mechanic. During his service, he earned the nickname "Ice Man" for his sharp wit and dark humor, which contrasted with his kind and gentle demeanor. Despite the nickname, Jeremy was known for his compassionate and loving nature, deeply caring for those around him. While stationed at Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Jeremy married his best friend and soulmate, Michelle Taylor, on April 22, 2015. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

After his discharge from the Marine Corps in 2016, Jeremy returned to Utah, where he began working at Hill Air Force Base, painting fighter jets. His work reflected his exceptional mechanical aptitude and meticulous attention to detail. In 2017, Jeremy and Michelle welcomed their first son, Hunter, into the world, followed by Jackson in 2020. Fatherhood was Jeremy's greatest joy, and his boys were the light of his life. He worked tirelessly to provide them with a better future, striving to break cycles and create lasting bonds built on love, trust, and understanding. His unwavering love and devotion to his wife and sons defined his life.

Jeremy found peace in nature, sharing countless adventures with his family and friends. Whether hunting, fishing, hiking, or four-wheeling with his brothers-in-law, he cherished the outdoors. He passed this love of exploration on to his sons, who eagerly followed in his footsteps, learning and growing alongside their dad.

A gifted artist, musician, and mechanic, Jeremy's creativity and resourcefulness knew no bounds. From crafting innovative projects in his garage to building and refinishing guns, he had a knack for transforming raw materials into something remarkable. His ingenuity inspired those around him, including his sons, who often joined him in his projects. He was an incredibly skilled individual who never hesitated to use those skills to assist his friends and family.

Despite his many talents and the love he shared with those around him, Jeremy wrestled silently with the weight of mental health challenges. He often spoke to those closest to him about the importance of raising awareness for mental health, particularly for men and veterans, and he yearned to break the stigma surrounding these struggles. His life serves as a poignant reminder of the need to support those who fight unseen battles.

Jeremy is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle, and their two beloved sons, Hunter and Jackson. He also leaves behind his father, Lynn Thatcher (Pam); mother, Terri Henson; and his four sisters: Amanda Edmunds (David), Samantha Pelletier (Micah), Steffany Greco (Michael), and Rebecca Thatcher. He is deeply mourned by his in-laws, Ron and Shawna Taylor; his brothers-in-law, Jason (Makenzie), Brian (Kelie), and Craig (Dorothy); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who cherished his vibrant spirit.

Jeremy's passing is a profound loss, but his legacy of love, creativity, and perseverance will endure. Let us honor his memory by advocating for mental health awareness, supporting one another, and cherishing the connections that bring light into our lives. May his story inspire others to seek help, speak openly, and carry forward the fight he so bravely waged.

The Thatcher family held a funeral service on October 7, 2024, with a private graveside memorial hosted by the Taylor family in December.
