Jerome Ryan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2011.
Ryan, Jerome Age 82, died peacefully in his sleep, as he wished, November 15, at the home of his son and daughter- in-law Kevin and Marybeth Ryan. A Korean War veteran and graduate of the Minnesota Institute of Art, Jerome was a self described "easel artist" who traveled throughout the US and world painting portraits and landscapes, eventually settling in Crisfield, MD where he realized his dream of living near the water, sailing and creating his wonderful artwork in his home studio. Jerome is predeceased by his siblings Jack and Joan and his wife Alex. He is survived by his first wife, Virginia Ryan; children and spouses Matt and Glenda Ryan, Kevin and Marybeth Ryan, Katie and Rich Ryan-Mann and Timm and Kevin Ryan-Young; 4 grandchildren; the children of his deceased sister, the Janeceks in whose lives he had great impact; lifelong friend Bob "Red" Florin; dear friend Betsy Thornton and many other friends, too numerous to mention. Jerome was quite a character. Not only an accomplished artist but a prolific storyteller, he delighted in crafting and delivering a story to any and all. In his final act of selflessness he bequeathed his remains to the Ohio State University Department of Anatomy. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date in Minnesota, per his request, near his beloved St. Croix River. Those who wish, may make contributions to Mt. Carmel Hospice, 1144 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43215. www.spencefuneralhomes.com
