Jerrel Ray Moore, 92, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors after a long illness.

He was born in the Greenfield, TN along with his twin sister Mildred Fay to Boyd and Effie Moore on October 24, 1924. Jerrel had an older brother James Willard, and a younger sister Francies Jane, which have all preceded him in death. Jerrel volunteered to serve in the Army and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston for a brief period of time and was honorably discharged. After which, he married Reba Hedgecock of Bradford, TN where they lived and had two children; David Ray Moore(Edith) and Emily Jane Moore White (James).

After 6 years in Bradford, they moved to the Chicago area where Jerrel worked for Material Service as a mechanic for 30 years. While living in the Chicago suburb of Darien, IL, he was a faithful member of Westmont Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, deacon, and on the finance committee.

After retiring, they moved back to Bradford, TN where they enjoyed gardening and traveling. Jerry loved coon hunting and fishing and caught several trophy fish. He was a kind and devoted husband and father and always wanted his family to sit down at the table every night to eat together and share our day with each other. Jerry was a devoted family man and will be greatly missed by his 6 grandchildren, Jamie, Melissa, Bonnie, Melody, Brian, and Nathan and fifteen great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at 11 AM on Friday, May 5 2017 at the Silver Bay Cemetery for family and close friends. Rev. Paul Scaringi will conduct the service. There will be a memorial service to honor Jerrel in the summer when family and friends can gather together from various states.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospice in Duluth or Ecumen Scenic Shores Care Center in Two Harbors.
