Jerry Coomer, age 61, of Somerset, departed this life on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his residence.He was born on Dec. 23, 1948 in Jabez, Ky., the son of Willie N. and Grace Baker Coomer. He had worked as a greens keeper for Eagle's Nest and served as a Somerset City volunteer fireman. He was a graduate of the Nancy High School Class of 1969.Mr. Coomer is survived by his wife, Lora Jean Williams Coomer, whom he married on April 15, 1987 in Somerset; a son, Christopher Allen Coomer of Somerset; five brothers, Leonard Coomer of Elizabethtown, Ky., Herbert Coomer of Somerset, Walter Coomer of Paintlick, Ky., Paul (and Zula) Coomer of Berea, Ky., and Thomas (and Barbara) Coomer of Versailles, Ky.; three sisters, Shirley Burton of St. Paul, Ind., Helen Walters of Somerset, and Pauline (and C.O.) Hopper of Somerset; his mother-in-law, Wilma Jean Church of Lancaster, Ky.; a brother-in-law, David Ray (and Jackie) Williams of Loveland, Ohio; and two sisters-in-law, Lisa (and Michael) Slavey of Eubank, Ky. and Lana Williams of Somerset.Preceding him in death were his parents, Willie and Grace Coomer; a brother, Clay Coomer; and three sisters, Kate Coomer, Elizabeth Coomer, and Brenda Coomer.Visitation for Mr. Coomer will be Monday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with his funeral to follow at 1 p.m. Bro. Greg Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Stacey-Coomer Cemetery in Jabez, Ky.The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Jerry's monument fund c/o Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.Arrangements of Jerry Coomer are entrusted to Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

I am sorry that I am just learning of your loss and did not make it to visitation. I worked with Jerry at Eagle's Nest. He was always such a polite man. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
