Jerry Crowl Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2025.
In loving memory of Jerry Dennis Crowl.

Jerry Dennis Crowl, 81, passed away on March 7, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida. Born May 16, 1943, in Hanoverton, Ohio, Jerry lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love for his family and friends.

Jerry proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as part of the submarine division. Stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, he carried out his duties with honor and commitment. Following his military service, he built a career as a power transformer technician, traveling extensively across the United States and Canada. His work involved maintenance, mechanical repair, and testing of power transformers-- an occupation that reflected his technical skill and dedication to his craft.

Beyond his professional life, Jerry had a deep passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and motorcycle riding, always seeking new experiences and adventures. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren, taking them on pontoon rides and fishing trips that created cherished memories. Known for his gift of storytelling, Jerry entertained friends and family with tales that brought laughter and warmth to those around him.

A devoted Cleveland Browns fan, Jerry never missed an opportunity to cheer for his team. His love for sports was only matched his love for people-- he had a gift for turning strangers into friends and formed lasting connections wherever he went.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Margaret; his son, David (Diane); three grandchildren-- Alexis, Nathan, and Brooke Crowl; his brother Bill Crowl (Vicki); as well as extended family members and many dear friends. He is proceeded in death by his son, Shane; brothers, Jack, Fred, and Randy Crowl; parents, Margaret and Bill Crowl; and mother and father in-law, Frances and Alex McAleer.

A celebration of his life, along with his son Shane's, will be held on June 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Acker-Moore VFW, located at 3733 Fishcreek Rd., Stow OH 44224. Family and friends are invited together to remember Jerry and Shane.

In honor of Jerry's memory, donations may be made to Music Cares at musicares.org. His legacy of kindness, adventure, and storytelling will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

At the Cypress Knee Cove Christmas party six years ago Jerry jokingly appointed me "SHERIFF" of our small HOA. What a guy. . Jack Tilton

If I had to find a song for Jerry it would be To know him is to love him. He was a great brother-in-law that always had a good word to say and a good laugh to share.

My memories of you bring a smile to my face. The stories you and my dad (Randy) would tell were always full of laughter. Give my dad and uncles a huge hug!

I remember when I first met Jerry, it was at Alex & Frances farm, when Margie & Jerry returned from Hawaii. Jerry over saw a pork roasting, Hawaiian style. It was a good time.
