Jerry L. Garver of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away peacefully, surrounded by his adoring family, at his home on March 14, 2023, at the age of 83.

Jerry enjoyed twenty-five years of retirement with his wife Elaine, living in Largo Florida near the beach playing their favorite area golf courses.

Jerry served as past President and CEO of the YMCA of Central Ohio from 1980 to 1997. Jerry built the North Branch and Suburban East YMCA's, renamed the Eastside YMCA to the Eldon and Elsie Ward Family YMCA in honor of the contributions to the community by Elsie and Eldon Ward, who he admired greatly,

and he made it possible for the extensive 1997 renovations of the downtown YMCA. Upon Jerry's retirement, the Suburban East YMCA was renamed in his honor, still known today as the Jerry L. Garver YMCA. Jerry leaves behind a legacy of supporting coworkers and community business leaders alike to achieve their personal and professional objectives.

Jerry was a graduate and supporter of Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky.

Jerry was kind to strangers and generous with his time and support to those in need.

Jerry was an avid tennis player, he enjoyed Cleveland Indians baseball, Ohio State and Wake Forest football and basketball, golf, most notably making a hole in one at Tanglewood Reynolds #12. One of Jerry's favorite pastimes was enthusiastically watching sporting events with his grandchildren.

Jerry looked forward to the daily wake-up cock-a-doodle-doo of the neighborhood rooster near his Florida condominium, he enjoyed lazy summer days sitting in his gazebo in the woods at his HAH lake home in Ohio, other favorites included ice cream, pizza, cold beer, Sinatra, Willie, and Chapin.

A special thank you to Jerry's many friends at Harmony at Brookberry of Winston-Salem for their love and support in particular, Christine and Pete.
