While at UT, he was a member of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. He was then recruited to Andrews by an uncle that was already practicing pharmacy.
Jerry made Andrews his home for approximately sixty years. He married Mary Evelyn Smith in Dallas, TX on June 22, 1985. The business he built, Prescription Shop, is still open and thriving with its second owner. He was always willing to get medication to those in need, often meeting customers at the store in the middle of the night.
Jerry believed strongly in community and supporting the town he chose to make his home by volunteering in any way he could. His service was acknowledged when he was awarded the Pioneer Award in 2022. He was involved in numerous organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, Lion’s Club, Meals on Wheels, the Shechem Home Halfway House and Kairos Prison Ministry. He spent many weekends in prison, ministering to those in need.

We have not forgotten Jerry. My wife who lived in Andrews for 29 years and I for 22 years had worked in Permian General Hospital now Permian Regional Medical Center. We had seen and met him at the hospital and in his prescription shop. He was highly respected, admired and so passionate on how he treated everyone. He always had that smile, approached you or talked to you no matter what we were doing or he was doing.
We left Andrews in 2006 and now living in Frisco, Texas. Once in a while we asked Jerry and his prescription shop to some of friends who still lived in Andrews. Some said Jerry had not worked there anymore and had retired but still lived in Andrews.
Our warmest condolences to his families. We know Jerry is in good hand with our Lord. His kindness, big smile and warm heart will not be forgotten.

I doubt that anyone has a brother like this man. The standard response when someone hears of his passing is "I believe he was the best, kindest man I ever knew." How I will miss him. I'm certain he's at work helping someone.
