When I realized I needed Jerry´s
counsel again a few years back, for some unknown reason, I decided to Google him first. I was so shocked to learn of his passing. It literally took my breath away. I still mutter "Jerry-isms" to myself from time to time. Man do I wish I could talk to you again right now! I´m so sorry, Joseph. Jerry was a great man who left a lasting legacy. I will forever miss his calm counsel. - Orin

I never watch a U of M football game or see a post on FB of the university's marching band without thinking of Jerry. Was thrilled to be in the stands and watch him perform with the band. Will never forget him. Love to Jack and Judy.

What a loss to the music world and to those of us who knew him as a friend and incredible musician. An amazing talent in so many areas. He was much loved and respected.

Mr Luedders was my college clarinet teacher and has been a dear friend for fourth five years. What a guy! As Shakespear said We shall never see the likes of him again. Heaven has more beautiful music because Jerry is there. Thanks for the memories.

I am so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I remember him well from Indiana U where he played bass clarinet with the IU Philharmonic, and did so very ably. His sense of humor and joie de vivre were unforgettable.

You brought wisdom, humor and sunshine to every contact. And you had the best funeral ever, bristling as it was with saxophones of every shape and size, reflecting so much love for you. A final BRAVO!

We're still in shock and so glad we were able to spend some time with him recently! David and I will never forget tooling around the curves and down the steep hill in the Model A. It was such a thrill, what must have been an arduous task for him and we never saw it. All we saw was his joy in our joy. Bless his soul, he'll forever be in our hearts.

Condolences to you Jack. You graciously hosted me, Rita and another saxophone player in your home for a week when Jerry brought us to San Francisco for a concert tour of Jerry's saxophone quartet. I think it was in the summer of 1971.

I studied saxophone with Jerry throughout high school and again at college, learning a great deal from him about playing the saxophone and how to think and play with musicality.

Our saxophone quartet also played many concerts together throughout college and went to Paris and studied with the saxophone quartet under the leadership of the Paris Conservatory's Professor of Saxophone.

Jerry gave my fellow music students and me a great many opportunities to learn and perform music. For that, I am grateful. I actively perform now in a woodwind trio on bassoon and saxophone with a clarinetist and flutist, both also former students of Jerry. So his influence and musical impact lives on in St. Cloud, MN, where Jerry worked and lived for 7+ years, early on in his teaching career.

I'm glad to hear that Jerry got married. My condolences also to you, Joseph, and to Judy.

Jerry was a light in so many lives. Whether as a teacher, a counselor or as a friend he was indelible. He always left you better off than you were before he touched your life. He stood for truth, principle, and kindness. Goodness exuded from his heart and soul, unless you cut him off in traffic! LOL. Jerry was one-of-a- kind, an amazing musician, an accomplished performer and set the bar high for anyone who came into his classroom. The world was a classroom for Jerry and he taught as much as he studied. A true Renaissance man, he knew about a wide variety of disciplines including plumbing. The man was as adept with a conductor's baton as he was with a wrench and could teach us all a few things about pretty much everything in life. I loved him with all my heart. I miss him dearly and I know he is carrying on in the next plane just like the adventurous spirit he was on earth. He will always be present in our hearts. His flame will never go out. Love you my friend.
