Jerry Hugh Sims

Jerry was born in DeSoto, Dallas County, Texas, to Fordyce C. and Hester (Chauvin) Sims on October 27, 1937. He graduated from Cedar Hill High School in 1956 and was a member of the Texas Jaycees Organization. Jerry attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma, and served six years in the 4th U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas, during the Vietnam War. He retired from Vought Aircraft Company in Grand Prairie, Texas, was an active Arlington First Church of the Nazarene member for 50 years.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Fordyce C. and Hester (Chauvin) Sims; his beloved twin sister, Sarah L. Sims; and three brothers: Fordy Sims and his wife, Jody; Lowell Sims and his wife, Mary; and Judge Thomas Sims and his wife, Carlene.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol (Schoendorf) Sims; his daughter, Meredith (Sims) Smith, and her husband, Timothy Sr.; his son, Blake C. Sims; his stepsons, Ron Murray and Michael Murray; his grandchildren, Hilary Lee; Timothy Smith, Jr. and his wife, Madison; and Nicholas Smith; his great-grandchildren, Grace Lee, Hunter Lee, and John Ryker Smith, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and long-time friends whom he adored and loved. Jerry will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
