Gerard “Jerry” Layton Turner 1934 – 2021
Gerard Layton Turner, loving husband of 49 years to his wife Betty, and 12 years to his second wife Janet, proud father, beloved grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on November 24, 2021.
Jerry was born October 7, 1934, in Houston, TX to the late Henry Crosley Turner Sr. and Martha Jane Turner. Jerry worked in sales for most of his life and was also store Manager for several Firestone locations. In 1977 he became the proud owner of his own independent Firestone store. Jerry was a committed businessman, but his enjoyment in life was time spent with his family. This included square dancing, bowling, and traveling the world with his beloved “Betty Red” and spending time with his children during Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, FFA, dance, and other activities. He also enjoyed tinkering with old cars and was extremely active in the Vintage Thunderbird Club of Houston serving in the position of President for many years.
Jerry had a kind heart and he showed unconditional love to everyone he met. His positivity and happiness were loved by all who knew him. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Crosley and Martha Turner, his brother Hank Turner, his wife Betty Turner and his second wife Janet Teese Turner. He is survived by his sons Randy Turner and Roger Turner; daughters Janell Matticks and Dixie Reeves and her husband Darrin Reeves; Grandchildren Amanda Turner, Daniel Turner and his wife Erin Turner; Abigail Handel and her husband Jonathan Handel; Jessica Turner, Tracie Matticks, Kylie Matticks, Lexi Reeves, Sophie Teese and great granddaughter Ella Turner.

The entire Turner family is in my prayers. Randy, Roger, Janelle and Dixie (and families)-I am praying for the peace that can only come from our Lord and God. Christ died so Jerry could live forever with Him. He walks the streets of gold right now with the Savior and all of his beloved family members who passed before him. Someday, you will all be together again. Until then, know that so many people love you all and are keeping you close in their prayers. Marsha McComb

Uncle Jerry was always one to notice anything new about someone and to give them a compliment every time. He enjoyed square dancing and all of our family gatherings. We always had all of the families together with lots of kiddos running around and lots of laughter. He will be truly missed. Love ya, Rhonda Devereux
