JERZY, MD
Age 92, of Mount Lebanon, on Monday, July 4, 2011. Beloved husband of Ruth Mary Einhorn; devoted father of Janusz, Ewa (Tim), Edward (Heather) and the late Robert (and his surviving wife Beata); loving grandfather of Lucian, Julian, Jesse, Anatea and August. No visitation. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS (412) 531-4000. A Memorial Service will be held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery Chapel, Saturday, July 30 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macular Degeneration Research, www.ahaf.org/macular. My mother was a patient at the Hazelwood Health Center for years when Dr. Einhorn was working there. He was a wonderful doctor, and my mother always felt certain that she was getting the best and most competent care when she was there.
I also was a patient a few times, and I had no idea that Dr. Einhorn was such a courageous person with such an interesting history. I was deeply saddened to read the article in the Post-Gazette on July 24th which revealed the extent to which he and his family suffered during World War II. I was saddened, but honored that my mother and I, as well as one of my best friends, were treated by such a wonderful person. Who would have ever thought that someone with such a history would wind up treating patients at a clinic for the underserved in a little neighborhood that had seen better days. Just another testament to what kind of person he was. I now wish that I had known him better.
