BRITTON, JESSE WILLIAM (Age 87)

Died peacefully at his home in Stratford Harbour, Montross, VA,on January 8, 2005. Mr. Britton served in the US Navy from 1940 until 1960. During World War II, he served on the USS Lexington. He was wounded and the ship was sunk in the Coral Sea. He also served in Korea in 1950. He retired from Federal service in 1976, having worked at the Naval Photo Center. He was born in Lasalle Parrish, LA. His wife, Dorothy Romaine Britton, died in 1992. Survivors include two sons, Robert William Britton of Montross, VA and James Warren Britton of Mt. Lake Park, MD; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. A small service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Stratford Harbour Club House in Montross, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Central Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23226.
