Evangelist Smalley, Elder Smalley, and Sis. Dee Dee,

Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Your husband and father left a tremendous mark on my life and ministry. The scriptures says that we have not many fathers but many teachers. I consider Supt Smalley to be one of the few men I can accredit to being teacher and mentor to me. My wife and I as well as the entire City of Joy COGIC family will miss him and we promise to stand with you and be here for you as Supt Smalley was there for us.

RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT AND SYMPATHY
FOR Superintendent JESSIE SMILEY

September 2, 2010

As a deer longs for you, O God, My soul thirst for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?... Why are, you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God...Psalm 42:1,2,5

WHEREAS our immutable Lord God saw fit to call Supt. Jesse Smalley, a beloved leader, husband, father, friend and loved one from this life to his eternal life, we acknowledge the sovereign wisdom of God in setting limits to our lives on Earth and for setting before us, through Jesus, our crucified and risen SAVIOR A limitless life, we humbly submit to His perfect sovereign will.

WE RESOLVE THEREFORE, as part of your family in Christ, to weep with you in your weeping in the loss of our beloved Supt. Jesse Smalley but we weep and sorrow not as those who have no hope, because we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so our loved ones who sleep in Jesus will God bring back with Him.

WHEREAS, we recognize that grieving is a human process, and we give you the space that is needed to enter into the rest and peace of God, knowing that you are not alone the Lord will never leave you or forsake you..

WE THEREFORE RESOLVE with God given wisdom through the Holy Spirit, we your family and friends resolve that we will have discernment, sympathy, and understanding that we may help bear, endure, comfort, counsel, defend, strengthen, stand by and carry your burden of loss, to the Lord in this time of grief and sorrow.

WE FURTHER RESOLVE THEREFORE to draw fearlessly, confidently, and boldly to the throne of grace to intercede in prayer continually, effectually and fervently for the entire family, with our high priest, who is able to understand, sympathize and have fellow feelings with us, as He comes to heal the brokenhearted, to give beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the spirit of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that He might be glorified.

We humbly resolve to love you with the love of Christ until our love overshadows your pain, to love you with agape love as of our Lord the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary. His understanding no one can fathom. His love gives strength to your weary soul, and increases your power when you feel weak. He will renew your strength like eagles

With Heartfelt Love and Prayers, Yours in Christ,

My dear Sister Smalley: We just met you and your husband during our time together in Convocation 2010 with Bishop Ben Collins and the Southeast Georgia Jurisdiction. It was an instant kinship resulting in my inviting Supt. Smalley to come and preach for us in Richmond, an invite he did not have the chance to fulfill. When I heard of his sudden passing I was devastated. I can only think that God must have wanted to see him face to face pretty urgently to call him home so suddenly. My life and the New Deliverance Church was deeply impacted by my meeting this great soul and we shall miss him greatly. We are here for you in the days to come.

In your time or mourning remember the bible tells us that weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Supt Smalley has gone to get his reward for his labor. Stay encouraged and know that death is never the end, but a transition to eternal life and if you continue to live the life Supt Smalley preached about and lived; you will see him again..
