CAMERON, Jessie Eveline Jane 1904 - 2008 Peacefully at her home, June 23, 2008, Jessie Cameron passed away at the age of 104 years. Beloved wife of the late Elwood Cameron. Daughter of John W. Horner and Amelia Smiley. Sister of the late Leonard Horner (Frieda), and the late Edith Draper (Sydney). Survived by sister-in-law Audrey Cameron (late Norman). Also survived by nieces and nephews. Her caregivers were very special to her. In her early years, Jessie was an avid curler, school teacher, bookkeeper at Shawville Creamery and for many years managed the Motor Vehicle License Bureau, and later worked at The Equity as a bookkeeper. In their retirement they spent many winters in Florida and traveled in Canada. Jessie was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, St. Paul's Guild and Clarendon Women's Institute. Visitation was held at W.J. Hayes & Sons Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday, June 25 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Sincere condolences are sent to Jessie's family. We just learned about her passing this evening. When I was a little girl I remember going with my dad to renew his license. I would stare at the beautiful ornaments on the window sills and even fantisize about buying that house when I grew up! (I thought it was an absolute gorgeous home when I was a little girl.) And the lady that lived there was just as gorgeous as any lady could be! Thanks for the fond memories, Jessie!
