Mrs. Jessie Mary Brashears Oden, 99, of Frederick, passed away on April 19, 2023, at her home.
Born on August 20, 1923, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Brashears, Sr. and Mary Margaret Shankle. She was the wife of the late Vernon Leroy Oden.


Jessie worked at Sears in downtown Frederick in her early years.  She enjoyed planting her flowers in the Spring and visits with her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews.


She is survived by her son Ronald Oden, Frederick; grandson Jeromey Oden, Frederick; granddaughter DeAnna Storoe (Bill), Florida; great grandchildren Brandon and Sophia Oden of Frederick, and Elle, Ava, William, Jr. and Jack Storoe of Florida.  She is also survived by great nieces Melissa LeClair (Frank) and Michelle Bitler (Jeremy), Frederick; and great great nephews Christopher LeClair, of Michigan, Chase LeClair (Caitlyn), of California, Chad LeClair of Frederick, and Colin Bitler of Frederick.  She is also remembered by Debbie Rice, Sandy Goodson, Michael Locke and Ralph Burdette.


She was preceded in death by her parents and by brother Herbert Brashears, sister Viola Grabill (Robert), brothers Jesse Brashears, Jr. (Nancy), Bernard Brashears Sr., (Betty), Stanley Brashears, Martin Brashears, Robert Brashears and Marshall Wetzel; and special nieces, Mary Catherine Grabill, Betty Grabill, and Barbara Locke.


 All services will be held privately.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Melissa LeClair, 5790 Meadow Drive, Frederick, MD 21702, to help defer funeral expenses.
