Jesus "Chuy" Mendez, aged 77, passed away on June 27, 2024, in El Paso, Texas. Born on April 14, 1947, in Canutillo, Durango, Mexico.

Jesus is survived by a loving family; his wife Raquel Mendez, his children: Jesus Mendez Jr., Enrique Mendez, Judy Mendez, and Erika Mendez and her husband Octavio Medina, his grandchildren: Vanessa Mendez, Angel Mendez, Diego Mendez, Julia Mendez, Enrique Mendez Jr., Estrella Mendez, Harley Mendez, Levi Mendez, Mia Sellars, Octavio Medina Jr., Amerika Medina, and Elena Medina and great-grandchildren Jeremiah Lopez-Mendez, Makayla Mendez, Lola Mendez, and Maya Mendez, his siblings: Luis Mendez (Nene), Martha Mendez, Veronica Mendez (Meena), Mario Mendez, Miguel Carlos Mendez (Chito), He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Molina.

Jesus Mendez took pride in ser de Mexico, and taught his kids and family to do the same. He loved to take the family on lots of vacations, especially to Mexico, and he eventually even bought a bus just for these vacations. Jesus liked to play the guitar, sing and dance, and enjoyed often a nice plate of tacos with a crisp Jarritos. He was hard working, and hard headed at times, but we could always count on him to give us a good laugh… or a headache. Jesus loved to be silly and joke with his loved ones. We will always remember him for his great strength en ser nuestros superman. He raised us to take pride de donde somos and to love our Mexican culture and language, and to take pride in our family name "it's a Mendez thing!" Jesus fought for a better life and his family learned a lot from his dedication to providing a meaningful life for his whole family. Jesus's pride and joy was watching his family succeed y a apoyar nos en todo nuestros sueños.

Services to honor Jesus's life will be held on July 9th from 5pm to 9pm at Perches Funeral Home on the Westside of El Paso, Texas. The family would like to express their gratitude towards Perches Funeral Home for their compassionate assistance during this difficult time. Jesus's legacy of love, laughter, and family and cultural pride will forever resonate with those he touched.
