Such a dedicated and determined gymnast and coach. His career as a gymnast earned him many well deserved awards and accolades. He continued and had a successful career as a coach as well. Many prayers for the Hartung family, May God be with you to help you through your time of loss.

I remember Jim from Norris Jr. High.
Every morning before school, he'd be in the gym on the rings. He was kind and very well liked. Sending prayers to his family.

Jim was also a member of American Sokol gymnastics. In 1985, he attended the American Sokol Slet in Chicago, participating in most of the social events, including the awards ceremony. It was only my 2nd Sokol Competition, but when I unexpectedly ended up a winner in Women's competition, the first thing I remember was "I need to get Jim's signature on my trophy!" He was gracious and kind that day. Something I will never forget. He's now with the other greats in heaven. My condolences to his family. SOKOLs fly!

Sending Jim's family are deepest sympathy on their loss. Our daughter so admired him while she competed as a youth with the Stafford Virginia Royals for many years. She and her team mates were able to watch him compete at George Washington University in Washington. DC in the 1980's. Christine so admired him for many years.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Jim´s family.
Jim was my kindergarten student at Jefferson School. I remember him as a very special and talented little guy even at such an early age. He would perform his gymnastics for our class much to our amazement and enjoyment! He will always have a special place in my heart!

I send my deepest condolences to Jim´s family, siblings, adult, children, and friends. Jim and I attended George W. Norris Junior High School together.
I have fond members of him.He always wore sweatsuits, carried his gym bag, and said, "Someday, I´m going to the Olympics" and that he did.
Rest in peace Jim.

You were perhaps the greatest athlete I ever got to meet. You are an awesome example to everybody who wanted to compete in this sport. Say Hello to the Gipper for me, see you in heaven Sunny Boy !
