Jim Hays Obituary

Jim Hays, 86, of Annapolis, Maryland, died peacefully at his home on September 5, 2016. He was born on June 16, 1930 in Lockport, New York. He attended Syracuse University, where he met his wife, Anne, whom he married on June 6, 1954. Together they had four boys, Doug, Peter, Rich, and Bruce. Jim served in the Air Force, retiring as Lt. Col. After retirement he and Anne followed their dream of cruising, and sailed for a number of years extensively in the Caribbean. Jim was very handy, and enjoyed working on and even building boats. He will be greatly missed. Jim is survived by his wife, Anne, their four sons and their families, as well as his sister and brother, Grace Reese and Harry Hays. He was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Paul, and Sidney. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, Sept. 9, 6:30 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 333 Dubois Rd., Annapolis, MD, with Rev. Fred Muir officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders, www.donate.doctorswithoutborders.org.
