Jimmie Lockridge Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 10 to Sep. 11, 2013.
Rev. Jimmie BA. Lockridge RACINE – Rev. Jimmie BA. Lockridge, age 63, entered into the joy of his eternal reward with the Lord on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Jimmie was born in Tupelo, MS on January 28, 1950 to the late Eddie Lee and Bernice (nee: Wells) Lockridge. Jimmie was a man of many talents. He had strong work ethics, he retired from J. I. Case Company after more than thirty years of employment. He was a member of the J. I. Case Thirty Year Club and served as a member and a Chaplin of his local U.A. W. Union. Rev. Lockridge enjoyed watching sports, bowling, talking, singing, playing the lead guitar with his wife Claretha by his side on the bass guitar, but more than anything, he loved to preach God’s Word. He faithfully served as a member and a minister at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop L.L. Kirby. Jimmie was License to preach on February 13, 1983 and ordained as a minister on August 18, 1985. In 1991 the Lord charged Rev. Lockridge with the awesome task of founding and pastoring the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Through his dedicated work in the ministry, he was able to connect with many people and help them deal with sometimes very difficult situations. The title of pastor was not something that he took lightly; he would get in and do whatever needed to be done for the kingdom of God and His people. He was a very humble man. Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Clareatha (nee: Bruce) Lockridge, daughters; Martha Johnson, Kierra Lockridge, Shallon Lockridge, Stephanie Roberts and Latisher Williams, nine Grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters and one aunt. He is also survived by a host of other family members, friends, foster sons, congregants, associates and brothers in the ministry. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Betty (nee: Hale) Lockridge, daughter; Tallana (nee: Lockridge) Keene and two sisters. Rev. Lockridge had an outgoing personality and a genuine love for people, he deeply loved his family and he treasured the precious moments spent with them. He was playful, had a great sense of humor, generous and kind hearted. Beloved by so many for his quick wit, musical talent and well-studied presentations of the Word of God. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1123 Center Street, on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 am. Viewing will be in the church on Saturday from 9am until the time of service. A Visitation/ Musical will be held on Friday, Sept. 13, at Fellowship MBC, 2049 Summit Ave. Visitation 5-6pm and the musical will begin at 6pm. Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery on Monday at 10 am. Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory 4600 County Line Rd. 552-9000 www.draeger-langendorf.com
