Jo Howard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 11, 2024.
Jo Faith Howard, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated community volunteer, passed away on November 27, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on April 11, 1943, daughter of Allen Quillen Hutton and Doris Goosby Hutton. She lived a life filled with love, service, and unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and community.

Jo graduated from Texas Christian University (TCU) and as a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority in 1965, where she not only earned her degree but also met the love of her life, Randall Keith Howard. Their chance encounter on campus blossomed into a beautiful marriage that lasted nearly six decades.

A devoted mother, Jo, raised two sons, Ronald Martin Howard and Robert Steven Howard, instilling in them the values of compassion and service that she embodied throughout her life. Her love extended to her cherished grandchildren, known fondly as Nana, who brought her immense joy and pride in her later years.

Jo's passion for helping others was evident in her extensive volunteer work. She was an active member of her church, where she dedicated countless hours to various ministries and outreach programs. Her commitment to serving families in need led her to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Houston and overseas medical missions with Operation Rainbow, providing comfort and support for both English and Spanish-speaking families of children facing medical challenges.

As a Houston Junior Woman's Club member, Jo further exemplified her dedication to community service and philanthropy. Her involvement in this organization allowed her to contribute to numerous charitable causes and make a lasting impact on the Houston community.

Jo cherished her sorority sisters, with whom she developed lifelong close relationships. If you were a friend of Jo, you were a friend for life. Her "girl outings" close to home, in another city, or even in another country were a true adventure every time, full of life, joy, and laughter.

Jo Faith Howard will be remembered for her warm smile, kind heart, and selfless nature. She leaves a legacy of love and service that will continue inspiring all who knew her. Jo is survived by her husband Randall Keith Howard, son Ron and his wife Melissa, her beloved grandchildren Sarah, Marshall, Allison, Nathan, and great-grandson John Robert. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A memorial service to celebrate Jo's life will be held on January 8th, 2025, at 10 am at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston Tx. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Jo's memory

Jo Faith, our beloved cousin, was the big sister we Thomas boys Dell Ray, me & Mike never had. She was greatly admired & we were in awe of her beauty & intellect. She tolerated our childish shenanigans & put up with us, like a saint, throughout the years. She will be greatly missed & I thank God for the loving memories we made together. Love & gratitude always to her, Randy, Ron, family & loved ones. Eternally thankful, Craig Thomas

Jo was a wonderful friend of the last 34 years. I loved her soft and gentle manner, her concern for others and her funny sense of humor. She was a wonderful cook and my "go to" for any kind of recipe advice. We shared so many girl adventures over the years as well as trips with our husbands together. She loved her family and her grands and was so proud of them. She will be greatly missed but I know is at peace and free of pain. Our prayers are with her family. Paula & Steve
