Joan BRETZER Obituary
March 11, 1936 – May 11, 2014
It is with deepest sadness that the family of Joan Bretzer announce her passing on May 11, 2014. Joan will be greatly missed by her devoted husband John and her loving children Brenda (Murray) Streight, Darryl (Colleen) Bretzer, Rebecca (Tom) Catling; her grandchildren Charity (Butch) Potter, Ashton Bretzer, Braydon Bretzer, Chalynn Bretzer; great-grandchildren Scarlett and Zachary Potter; her sister Marilyn Bremner, brother- in-law Albert Manegre; numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Evelyn Cuthbert. Joan loved to entertain pool side and has many wonderful friends who will miss Joan's welcoming smile. Joan was born in Saskatoon, Sk on March 11, 1936. She spent her early years in Fielding, SK and Saskatoon until her family moved to North Battleford in 1946. Joan graduated from high school and attended secretarial training in North Battleford. She started her career at Morrisons Garage in 1956 where she met the love of her life John Bretzer. They married on September 14, 1957 in North Battleford. The family moved to Saskatoon in 1969. Joan worked at SGI for 25 years until she retired in March 2001; a career and coworkers she loved. Joan was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for 58 years where she leaves many more friends and memories. The family would like to thank the staff of RUH Neurology and Ward 6300 for their care and kindness to Joan and her family. Prayers and Service will be held at St. Anne's Parish, 217 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon on Thursday May 15, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Service on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Joan will be laid to rest at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson Society Saskatchewan or the Canadian Cancer Society. My thoughts and prayers go to the family during this difficult time. Joan and I went to the same Aqua-Fit and Exercises at the Field House. She always had a pleasant smile for me. She will be missed.

Heartfelt condolences for your loss. We are so fortunate when we have wonderful Moms like yours, and it makes losing them so hard. You'll be in my thoughts. Dear John, Brenda, Darryl and Rebecca, We lived around the corner from you on Prince of Wales Ave. Joan worked for years as my Dads (Bill Beeching) Secretary at SGI and then years later Joan and I were co-workers at SGI too. Joan was wonderful, the busier she was planning get togethers/pool parties/ luncheons the HAPPIER she was! What a "Comet" she was, what a great, well lived and happy Woman Joan was. A GEM. I remember Joan waving and smiling at me every day growing up on Prince of Wales from across the street. She shined as bright and beautiful as the sun every time she walked into a room. Mrs B was a friend, confidant and back up mom... Us boys loved her. Dear John, Brenda, Darrell, Becky and families, please know we are thinking about you! Remember all those great times full of laughter and love you shared with 'mom'!! And Joan... My lava light is turned on to remind me of you....
