Joan Brown Obituary

Published by Gold Country Media Newspapers on May 5, 2010.
Joan Jewell Brown
4/5/1931-3/20/2010

Joan peacefully passed away on March 20, 2010 at her home in Loomis after succumbing to lung cancer. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Danita Brown Astle and Jacki Brown Green.
Joan leaves behind eight grandchildren; Nichele Mori, Brooke Prophet, Jessica Bettencourt, Kimberlie Hancock, Bobby, Brian, Branden and Aaron Astle, eight great-grandchildren; Evan, Kyle and Jacob Mori, Ty, Kaden and Breyer Bettencourt, Matthew Astle and Sadie Hancock; her brothers Edward Kidwell and Bill Kidwell; her sister Glenna Marie Creaney, as well as a large extended family who loved her very deeply.
Joan will be remembered most for her deep personal faith which was the foundation for her resilient spirit and strength; as well as her infectious sense of humor and ability to make others laugh. She enjoyed reading her Bible, working crossword puzzles, watching American Idol, and exchanging Tootsie Pops for hugs with her grand-kids.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Brown; her eldest daughter Lanice Brown Bicoll; and parents George and Fern Kidwell.
She was laid to rest on what would have been her 79th birthday, April 5, 2010, at Newcastle Cemetery in Newcastle, California.

It's been two months and ten days since you went back home to be with our Heavenly Father... It seems like yesterday. Love you Mom

Yesterday as I sat down to work on some baby blankets, for the church's humanitarian aid, I realized that from now on every time I sit down at a sewing machine or pick up a crochet hook I will always have my grandma in my thoughts. I felt warm sunshine and could see her smiling face as if she were there helping me as we worked on the project together. I will miss you everyday for the rest of my life "grma" grandma.
