Dear "Joan in America", as my mum, Joanie Freeman(Gardner) used to say. They grew up as cousins in pre war London and stayed together, always in spirit, over the Pond, from 1947 onwards. A great friend, cousin, Auntie to us on Canvey Island and a frequent visitor to these shores. Much loved and missed. Gone from our homes but not from our hearts. TTFN..xx

I remember Aunt Joan for her genuine spirit of kindness. She was one of the loveliest people I've ever known. Her warm and endearing smile was second to none. She will be missed but will always be in our hearts.

We were saddened to learn of Joan´s passing. We only knew her via brief encounters while she was taking a walk with her daughter, Jenny. Our impression was that this was a lady who had a rich, full life. Our condolences to her family.

I knew her in the 50's and 6o's as Theresa's mom. She always showed me such warmth, kindness and generosity and I greatly admired her.

When I was 13 and new to the neighborhood, my Mum would take me out to an open field and hit a baseball to me. She would do this until other kids would come along and we would all play ball. She was so wonderful. She knew when the other kids came, I would make new friends.
