Joan Schroeder Gluck

Gluck Joan Schroeder Gluck On February 19, 2004 the hand of God delivered Joan Schroeder Gluck to eternal peace after a seventeen month struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). She was born in Minneapolis, MN on December 8, 1954 to Clinton A. and Carolyn I. Schroeder. Her life's journey carried her from Edina, MN; Nezperce, ID; Midland, MI and finally, Lake Jackson, TX. She graduated from Edina High School and Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. In 1979, she married her Whitworth College classmate, Steven J. Gluck. She is survived by her husband; by son, Jaxon; daughter, Rochelle; mother, father and four siblings, Alan Schroeder, Barbara Hartsfield, Lisa Kennedy, Kathryn Schroeder and by 6 nieces & nephews. Following college, Joan served for 2 years as County Home Extension Agent in Nezperce County, ID. Thereafter, she lived in Midland, MI where she taught calligraphy and was also a field representative for the Association for Child Development for 17 years. While in Midland, Joan helped to found both the Valley Scribes and Evergreen Garden Club. She was well known wherever she has lived as an active volunteer, particularly within the school systems. In Lake Jackson, she was a leader within the Newcomers Club. Joan was a friend to everyone who met her. We will miss her dearly. Psalm 90 Funeral services will be at Christ Lutheran Church, 86 Plantation Drive, Lake Jackson, TX 77566 on Monday, February 23 at 12 PM. For those friends unable to attend the services, you may visit with the family at the church Sunday, Feb 22 from 6 to 7 PM. Joan's wish was for everyone to wear bright clothing for the service and to celebrate her life. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Christ Lutheran Church or The Saint John's Bible, Saint John's University, P. O. Box 7222, Collegeville, MN 56321 Attn: Eric Hollas, OSB, Director. The Saint John's Bible Project is the first of its kind in over 500 years. Its pages are being hand lettered and illuminated in the tradition of the great scribes.
