Another year has gone around, and another chance to focus on the memories of our beloved Joan and Pat!

Well, this is just an amazing coincidence! Just last evening, April 1, 2023, friends, families and Community Players members gathered for an Evening of Remembrance for Pat Delzell who died New Year's Eve day. Nearly 100 people shared stories, noshed, watched a photo montage of Pat's life, and a video of her performing. She and Joanie were dear friends and the photo montage had several photos of them and their adventures. Pat Delzell started The Top Hat Awards, and Joanie was always on that staff and did her Good Dobbie Award with her Miss Joan magic mirror. We also did an Evening of Remembrance for Joanie, there have been four now. Too many dear people gone now, but so many wonderful memories! Love you forever Joan.

Though it's been 15 years (it can't be!!) since Joan left the building, she is still here illuminating my heart, and I think and speak of her often. I always say when I grow up, I want to be like Joanie. She was joy.

Joan is one of those dear dear souls who lights up each space she enters. Eyes, smile, laughter. Clothes!! We grieve, it hurts, but I've already seen you in the afternoon sunlight and purple spring crocus. As this current grief eases, the happy memories (and there are many many of those) will once again brighten our souls. As you are off to a brighter place, making it brighter still, your memory stays here, continuing to illuminate. Blessings on your journey, thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Joan was that rare kind of person that you'd want sitting next to you on a long trip. She was funny, smart, kind and accomplished. And always, always, generous of self and spirit. She did a number of shows for New Thalians in Manchester and was sensational. But, I also remember when she came in at the last minute to simply run lights for a small original production we did called "Fractured Fables". Although she was a tremendous talent onstage she was also happy to work backstage, quietly and capably. Joan Guardino will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her. A good woman. A good life well-spent. Brava!

Oh the marvelous accessories that woman had!! Always unique pieces of jewelry and a story to go along with every piece! She lived life to the fullest and allowed many to enjoy it through those twinkling, fervent eyes! A genuinely kind soul that will be greatly missed by so many.

I didn't have the privilege of knowing Joan for as long as many of her friends did, but in the few short years that I did know her, I was always struck by her presence and her very unique gift of not only listening to you, but hearing you with every fiber of her being. You always felt like you counted with Joan, whether you knew her for decades or just barely met her. And of course, no one can remark on Joan without mentioning her eternal, dazzling, smile.

Joan, you were one classy lady, and your smile will always light up my heart. Thank you.

I haven't seen Joan for many, many years, but do remember what a wonderful, fun-loving person she was and what a great job she did filling in for me on Romper Room.
My heart goes out to her family and friends.

"Romper, bomper, stomper, boo.
Tell me, tell me, tell me do.
Magic mirror, tell me today.
Did all my friends have fun at play?"
Yes, Joan, we had a great time with you! I'm only sorry that you had to leave so very soon.

Joan was a delight. She was joy, energy, laughter and she had poetry in her heart. Joan illuminated the world with a special sense of light. She was a dear friend when I was in Boston. My sincerest sympathy to her lovely sister.
Rest in peace little angel.

Joan and I were classmates and very good friends at the Leland Powers School of Boston in the early fifties. I have nothing but fond memories of her, her friendship and her beautiful smile. My sincerest condolences to her family and friends.

Joan's greatest loves -- her husband, her dogs, and theatre. Joan knew how to enjoy life in these later years. And she made life a fun and joyous experience for others. She is missed. Greatly missed.
