Joan Claire (nee Podvorny) Harrison, 83, passed away, October 8, 2023. Born in Wilkes Barre, Joan was raised in nearby Dupont, PA and had resided in Englewood Cliffs for 50 years, ahead of settling in Fort Lee for the last few.

After graduating from St. John the Evangelist, Joan went on to obtain a Registered Nurse degree and passed her boards with flying colors before heading to NYC to work at the prestigious Columbia Presbyterian University Hospital. She loved helping people and took great pride in her work. winning her an award for "The Best Operating Room Nurse" that represented how she prepared the operating rooms and assisted the surgeons with excellence in her techniques, which was noted by the entire staff. She eventually changed career paths to become a Realtor in Bergen County where her happiness was working hard to find each unique customer the perfect home for over 40 years and winning several awards of excellence along the way. Joan was an avid tennis player and fierce competitor who enjoyed doubles matches any day of the week. She cherished time with friends, going to dinners often and never missed celebrating a birthday or special occasion. Her true passion was her family. One of Joan's favorite pastimes was spending summer vacations on Long Beach Island and enjoying the beach life and local establishments, eventually introducing all these traditions to her grandchildren.

Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert J. Harrison. Also, dear sister, Arline Connors.

Joan was a kind, loving person with only goodness in her heart.
Although we lost touch since our children went to school together,
I spoke with her this year (2023 ) before she became ill. May
she rest in peace.

When Joan came into Real Estate, I was already there and we worked together at Weichert Realtors. She had an inquisitive mind and I kind of mentored her for while. She was a wonderful woman with so many beautiful qualities. After awhile I found out that Jeff, her son, was teaching tennis to my nephew Robert Agresta. I pray that you rest in peace Joan. A beautiful woman with a beautiful heart. Phyllis Buonomo

I worked for her for only a few weeks and I felt so happy with her that it seemed like I had known her forever, I became so fond of her that when I was at home I worried about her, rest in peace and I hope to see you again.

I remember all the fun times we had as kids. Our families were close and so were we. I will always remember the visit we had with Joan in her new apartment and was looking forward to another visit. Ronnie

Joanie had a special way about her, it's hard to explain, but different from anyone else. Joanie could make anybody laugh the way she would tell a story or express herself. She will be deeply missed, not only by me, but anyone who knew her.

I always enjoyed my time with Joanie. We had the best conversations and were always able to share our ideas, opinions and hopes with each other. Her greatest joy was her family and I was so blessed to be her cousin. I know the reunion with her family in heaven will be epic!
