Joan HASZ

HASZ, Joan Joan Eileen (Thomas) Hasz passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital surrounded by her family on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the age of 91 years. Joan and her twin sister, Eileen, were born at Nokomis on July 14, 1926. She attended Colt Lake and Saline Schools. After high school she worked as a nurse's aide in the Nokomis Union Hospital. Later she moved to Alberta where she met Ike Hasz. They were married on December 14, 1951. Joan had three children: Lydia, Eltyn, and Andrea. The family moved back to Nokomis in 1965. Joan held several jobs with her last position being with Home Care in Nokomis. She retired in Nokomis. In 2004, due to the onset of dementia, Joan moved to Regina and lived with her daughter, Andrea, until her passing. Joan was predeceased by her parents, John (1949) and Charlotte (1981) Thomas; husband Eigen (Ike) Hasz (1996); son, Eltyn (2011); son-in-law, John Dzurich (2015), and sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Henry Triffo, Joyce and Carl Johnson, and Harold Milne. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Lydia Dzurich of Humboldt and Andrea Hasz of Regina; granddaughters, Roberta McAfee-Hasz of Edmonton and Mandy McAfee-Hasz of Regina; twin sister, Eileen Milne of Coronation, Alberta, as well as several nieces and nephews. Kobe (her cat) and Cohen (dog) were very special companions. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Anglican Church, Nokomis SK on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Nokomis Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Pioneer Village Day Program, for providing Joan with wonderful care and entertainment for the past 6 years. Also, thank you to the Nurse Next Door Program, Dr. Lim of Nokomis, the doctors and nurses at the General Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care of Mom. A very special thank you to Andrea for the wonderful care she gave our mother and grandmother over the past 14 years.
