Joan MacLeod Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2012.
MACLEOD, Joan Thelma
Friends and family,
I had a good life, but now I no longer walk among you. My parents, Leonard and Florence Howie, of Port Caledonia have gone this way before me, as has my husband, Robert. I leave behind one son, Kirby (Susan) in New Zealand, a brother, John (Port Caledonia) and my sister, Muriel Doncaster (Marion Bridge). I also leave behind nieces and nephews - my sister's son and daughter, Leonard Doncaster and Joan Rankin, being the ones to whom I was closest.

I am most thankful to have had the opportunity to call many of you - friend. I am also very grateful to have served this community - as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Hospital Books on Wheels, as a member of the Citizens' Service League and as a Commissioner for the Girl Guides. I have cherished the many friendships born through my association with these groups, as well as those from a lifelong association with both the St. Timothy ACW and the St. Mary's Church Choir.

For many years, I baked and decorated cakes from home - for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations and for many personal and family occasions. Looking back, it was both a privilege and a delight to have played a small part in many of your family celebrations.

Celebrate life, and please remember to hug the ones you love.

Joan Thelma MacLeod, of Glace Bay, died peacefully in hospital on Wednesday, August 29th among family. A public committal service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Cemetery in Port Caledonia. An announcement for this will be made at a future date. All are welcome.
