Joan Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2025.
Joan Smith (née Kiley), age 91, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Born on August 19, 1933, in Bridgeport, she remained a lifelong resident of the city she called home.

Joan dedicated much of her professional life to serving others through her work at Connecticut National Bank and later in a legal office. Her career reflected her diligence and commitment to excellence.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Trudy Baggs of Bridgeport; her sons, Paul Smith of Bridgeport and Mark Smith (Lisa) of Milford; her daughter, Susan Gernett (Neil) of Stratford; and her cherished companion, Chet Zajack of Torrington. Joan was also a devoted aunt to Sharon Feola (Mike) of Florida. Her legacy continues through her ten beloved grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Joan found happiness in life's simple pleasures-she enjoyed trips to the casino, shopping excursions, and watching QVC. She especially treasured traveling the world. Her generosity and warmth touched all who knew her.

A loving mother, grandmother, sister, companion, and friend, Joan will be deeply missed by those whose lives she enriched. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who loved her.

As her son, love seems inadequate to say how In feel. Full of life and spunk. Rest in Peace Ma and I'll see you on the other side.
