JoAnn Tutera Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 3, 2025.
JoAnn Corsaro Tutera, 84, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, in Port Chester, New York. Born on November 20, 1940, in Port Chester, she remained a lifelong resident of the community she loved.

JoAnn was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. She shared an extraordinary love story with her husband, Joseph Tutera. Their journey together began in their teenage years when they became sweethearts for life. Over the course of more than 60 years of marriage, they lived out their vows with unwavering devotion, supporting each other through every joy and challenge. As Joe often said, "It has been a GREAT ride," and indeed, their love was a beautiful and enduring journey.

JoAnn dedicated much of her life to her family and community. She was an active PTA parent in the Port Chester School District, always involved in her children's education and activities. She also worked as a secretary at General Motors before spending over two decades assisting her son David Tutera in his professional endeavors. Her dedication to her family extended beyond words-she was a constant source of love and support to those around her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Tutera; her sister, Maria Corsaro; her children, David Tutera, Gregg Tutera, and Amy Tutera; and her cherished grandchildren, Richard Grall, Mia Grall, Cielo Toth-Tutera, and Gracie Toth-Tutera. JoAnn's family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

In JoAnn's final years, she was surrounded by the unwavering love and care of her family and close friends. Her children express deep gratitude to their father for his steadfast devotion in caring for their mother. Special thanks are extended to David for bringing JoAnn to California during her recovery; to Gregg for his daily care; to Amy for her calls and visits; and to Richard and Mia for always checking in on their grandmother. JoAnn's sister Maria brought joy to her days with regular visits and lunches together. The family also wishes to acknowledge their neighbor Alice for always being there, as well as JoAnn's longtime friend Carol Fulco for her enduring friendship.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to JoAnn's dedicated caregivers: Susan Smithwick for her invaluable medical guidance; hospice nurse Carol Harnist; Alesandra Cannes; Martha Hernandez; Jeanette Andre; Maria Perea; and Ivan. Their kindness and support provided comfort during JoAnn's final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Parish of St. John Bosco Corpus Christi Church, located at 16 S. Regent St., Port Chester, New York. Following the service, JoAnn will be laid to rest in a private entombment ceremony at St. Mary Cemetery in Rye Brook.

JoAnn Corsaro Tutera leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion that will forever be cherished by those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.

My dear friend Joann you will be truly missed. You gave kindness to all who became part of your life. Our boys enjoyed playing at your house and mine and of course swimming in your pool. I will miss you and remember you always. Rest in peace my friend. My condolences to your family that mourn your memory.
All my love

All our prayers are with the Tutera family. What a loss to them and all who knew Jo Ann.
I first met Roe and Jerry´s great friends in PC, being the brother always traveling somewhere in this world.
I cannot tell you how much this family did for our family over the past thirty years. Though we were out of PC we could always count on Joe and Greg to finalize our "last minute" needs. Only they know!
Jo Ann was greeted in Heaven by many family and old friends. God is with you!

Dear Uncle Joe, David, Gregg, Amy and Family,
So sorry to hear about Aunt JoAnn. So many great childhood memories and through the years with our families. The "Golden Girls" were friends that became like a family and the next generation got to benefit from their awesome friendships.
Hold onto all the great memories in your hearts forever.
Sending prayers, strength and big hugs to all of you.
Love, Kathleen aka Sis

Dear Joe, David, Amy and Gregg,
I was very sad to hear of JoAnn's passing. She was delightful to work with, very positive and caring. And those birthday cakes and seasonal goodies! I remember her fondly, as does Eden. I'm so happy that she was able to enjoy her children and grand children, and be an active part of your lives.
I have many memories of our time in Mamaroneck. You are all in my thoughts.
With sympathy,
Diane Wagner

Just learned of the passing of cousin Jo Ann. It makes myself and family very sad, especially since we all lost touch of each other. All those lost years! I do have memories when we were kids, visiting and playing monopoly. Condolences to Joe and family.
